Beyoncé and Jay-Z are starring in a new Tiffany campaign featuring a never-before-seen Basquiat painting, as well as the iconic yellow diamond, which has only been worn by 4 women.

-In a joint Vanity Fair interview with Jason Sudeikis, Elizabeth Olsen commented on Scarlett Johansson’s fight against Disney. “I think she’s so tough and literally when I read that I was like, ‘Good for you, Scarlett.’ ” So far, the only  other Marvel actor to publicly comment on the lawsuit is Dave Bautista, who tweeted, “Told em they should’ve made a #Drax movie but noooooo!”

Drake and Kanye West‘s feud reignited over the weekend. Drake appeared to take a shot at West in his verse on the Trippie Redd song “Betrayal” and West then shared a screenshot of a text message he sent to a thread with eight people on it (including Drake, presumably) that showed a photo of Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker with the message “I live for this. I’ve been f–ked with by nerd ass jock n—as like you my whole life. You will never recover. I promise you.” And then West posted a Google Maps screenshot of what appeared to be Drake’s home address in Toronto.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been praised for their efforts to help evacuate the people of Afghanistan.

Elliot Page accepted his Outfest’s Achievement Award virtually and talked about the importance of representation. “I don’t know if I would have made it through the moments of isolation and loneliness and shame and self-hatred that was so extreme and powerful and all-encompassing that you could hardly see out of it. And then, you know, at 15, when you are flipping through the channels and you stumble on ‘But I’m a Cheerleader’ and the dialogue in that film, and scenes in that film just transform your life.”

Sandra Oh says she’s excited to see what Elliot Page is going to do next. “I have done so many movies with him.”

-I had no idea that Oh’s new Netflix show The Chair was created by actress Amanda Peet.

Jesse Metcalfe is revealing why he chose to leave Chesapeake Shores. “Getting to know a new showrunner and create a working relationship with a new person was not necessarily something I wanted to do…I didn’t have any conversations with our new showrunner, Phoef Sutton. We took a lunch well before the pandemic. Then the pandemic hit and Phoef and his writing team had a long time to craft season 5, but unfortunately I never heard from anybody on the production side and so I was given the [scripts for the] first couple of episodes. That creative relationship was not really established this time around.” This seems to be asking a lot of a Hallmark show but ok.

Taylor Swift joined TikTok with a video recreating looks from past albums – and an announcement that her version of Red will be released on vinyl Nov 19.

-In a new interview, Molly Shannon (who is coming off The White Lotus and stars in the new season of The Other Two) talks about the tragic childhood loss that has shaped her life. She reveals her mother, younger sister and cousin died in a car accident when she was 4. Her father, who had been driving under the influence, survived but was horribly injured.

-The trailer for Kacey Musgravesupcoming album and film pays homage to Romeo + Juliet, and offers a glimpse of Euguene Levy‘s cameo. She also dropped a new single.

-Speaking of new music, Olivia Rodrigo released a video for “Brutal.”

-I loved this interview with Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein. He talks about how a classic Dickensian villain helped shape brooding hero Roy Kent, and why the show isn’t as light and fluffy as people make it out to be.

-HBO made some announcements today, including that Insecure, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Succession will all return in October.

Barry Jenkins and Dan Levy tweeted out their support to a Toronto restaurant that’s being targeted but dumb anti-v**xers.

-The Toronto Film Festival is requiring all attendees to show proof of vaccination or a negative test to attend. I still haven’t figured out if all my screenings with be virtual or if I’ll do a few in-person, but this is comforting.

-The reviews for Shang-Chi are glowing.

-William Miller’s fictional think piece about Stillwater from Almost Famous is now online.

Mayim Bialik will take over hosting Jeopardy until the dust settles. She’s scheduled to tape three weeks of episodes when production resumes this week.

-This is a very smart piece on what happened with Jeopardy and what it says about the industry. “There are countless relatively anonymous producers across Hollywood who probably know that if Richards’ situation is about to define the new standard for decency in Hollywood, in terms of what is and what isn’t acceptable, they’re going to be in trouble as well.”

-A feature film focusing on Jurnee Smollett‘s Birds of Prey character Black Canary is in early development for HBO Max, with Smollett’s Lovecraft Country showrunner Misha Green set to write the script.

-The trailer for season 2 of The Morning Show (a show that started really rocky but grew on me by the end of season 1) has dropped. Looks like Will Arnett has joined the cast — and Billy Crudup is still the best thing about the show ’cause he continues to just GO for it.

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost Have Baby Boy

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost have welcomed a baby boy named Cosmo(!) into the world. It’s her second child, and their first together.

-Congratulations to Outlander’s Caitriona Balfe and Tony McGill who recently welcomed their first child together — despite her fans not knowing she was pregnant.

Chloe and Halle Bailey cover of Flaunt magazine.

-In THR’s new cover storyMichael Keaton admitted that he got lost when the Morbius filmmakers tried to break down what’s been happening in the MCU and how it makes sense that he’ll play Batman in The Flash thanks to the multiverse. “I’m nodding like I know what the fuck they’re talking about. I go, ‘Uh-huh.’ And I’m thinking, ‘You may as well be explaining quantum physics right now to me. All I know is I just know my guy. And I know the basics.’ So finally, they were looking at me, and they just started laughing. They said, ‘You don’t know what we’re talking about, do you?’ I said, ‘No, I don’t, no idea what you’re talking about.'”

-I don’t know what I’m less surprised by: that Carrie Underwood would like an anti-mask tweet from an extremist voice like Matt W*lsh, or that celebrities still haven’t figured out that we can easily see which tweets they’ve liked.

Joshua Jackson really wanted to clarify that yes, Jodie Turner-Smith proposed to him first, but that’s not the whole story. “Yes, two proposals. And also for anybody who is freaked out by a woman claiming her own space, shut the fuck up. Good God, you cannot believe the things people were leaving my wife on Instagram. She did it. I said ‘yes.’ We’re happy. That’s it. That’s all you need to know. That has been a real education for me as a white man, truly. The way people get in her comments and the ignorance and ugliness that comes her way is truly shocking. And it has been a necessary, but an unpleasant education in just the way people relate to Black bodies in general, but Black female bodies in specific. It is not okay. We have a long way to go.”

-The Ringer talked to current and former colleagues of new Jeopardy host Mike Richards…and it’s not good! Also, his old podcast jokes have resurfaced online and they are also not good.

-According to The Daily Beast, Queen Elizabeth‘s lawyers wrote to major British newspapers warning them against taking or publishing pictures of the royals at Balmoral the same day that Prince Andrew arrived there. Interesting how they were willing to sic lawyers on the press for negative coverage of him but not Meghan Markle.

Ant Anstead confirmed that he’s dating Renee Zellweger, saying “Look, everybody knows that Renee and I have become quite close… we kept it secret for a while, and unfortunately some pictures were taken and put out there.”

-Open arguments have begun in R. Kelly’s sex crime trial, and prosecutors said he used “every trick in the predator’s handbook.” Meanwhile, his lawyer seemed flustered in her opening remarks, accidentally saying “the girls” in reference to Kelly’s partners before quickly correcting herself by saying “excuse me, the women,” as well as saying: “You ultimately will have to find Mr. Kelly guilty — excuse me, not guilty.”

Alyssa Milano and her uncle were involved in a car accident after he suffered a suspected heart attack while driving.

Phoebe Dynevor has signed on to executive-produce and star in Amazon’s adaptation of Exciting Times and now everyone is wondering what that means for Bridgerton. She’s only in brief scenes in the subsequent books — because that’s how those books work.

-This is an interesting piece on Nicole Kidman the film actor versus Nicole Kidman the TV star, and how she seems to be choosing less interesting roles on the small screen vs the big screen.

-Meanwhile, I had no idea her new show Nine Perfect Strangers had already started airing. There’s too much TV.

-I was clicking on a celebrity-related tweet last week and it went to Gawker, which felt like a time warp. The site is back with an almost-all female staff.

-With Delta bearing down hard on the US, the movie studios are beginning to rethink their release schedule again. The fall film festivals are still rolling on, though.

-Oooh boy. Canadian director Denis Villeneuve said of Dune’s release, “The way it happened, I’m still not happy. Frankly, to watch Dune on a television, the best way I can compare it is to drive a speedboat in your bathtub. For me, it’s ridiculous. It’s a movie that has been made as a tribute to the big-screen experience” Sigh. Look, I get that as a filmmaker, he wants people to see his movies in the best possible presentation — not to mention his profits and ability to make a sequel are probably tied to box office receipts. But others have pointed out the elitism of his comments. Also, we’re in a pandemic! If people are more comfortable watching it on HBO Max, at least they’re watching it. And not to give James Gunn too much credit, but I did like what he had to say recently about movies becoming favourites because they’re re-run on TV, which seems especially true for a film like Dune, which is destined to be a cult fave due to repeated viewings.

-I don’t watch RHONY, but I really liked this interview with Eboni K Williams about getting along with costars like Ramona Singer who have different political views.  “I’m not looking to see if Ramona and I agree on North Korea, or mask bans, or anything like that. I don’t care about that. But I’ve got to see if we align on those basic principles of shared humanity. And if we don’t, that saves me time, and really, Ramona time.”

-Here’s the final trailer for Annette, which seems to have divided critics.

Jamie Spears Finally Relents

-Finally some good news on the Britney Spears front. TMZ is reporting that Jamie Spears is not waiting for the next hearing at the end of September and instead has filed court docs to step down as his daughter’s conservator. He’s a whiny little jerkface about it, but still! In the filing, he slams Lynne Spears and adds, “There are, in fact, no actual grounds for suspending or removing Mr. Spears as the Conservator of the Estate … and it is highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms. Spears’ best interests.”

-Meanwhile, police are monitoring death threats being made to the judge who’s overseeing Spears’ conservatorship case.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis broke down and bathed their children. Peer pressure works!

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck hit up celebrity hotspot Craig’s for dinner with her daughter after returning home from their European yacht trip. Every time I go to a fancy restaurants and see kids there I think “god, they must be so bored.” Though I guess getting papped would add some excitement/terror to the evening.

-This is in interesting look at how celebrities alerting the paparazzi to their whereabouts has changed during the pandemic, when the lack of red carpets is making some stars desperate for coverage.

-At this point, it takes a lot for shoe designers to really make a shoe stand out based on sheer ridiculousness, but Rebecca Hall’s just did it. “Toe condoms” sound about right.

Kristin Chenoweth did this 18-page musical number in one take on Schmigadoon!, a show that has really grown on me, even though I know nothing about the era of musical theatre it’s spoofing.

-Scotland Yard said they will cooperate with American authorities regarding Prince Andrew — while Charles is worried how the optics are going to overshadow the Queen‘s Platinum Jubilee. The priorities of this family remain eyebrow raising….

Sarah Jessica Parker will not attend this year’s Met Gala, reportedly because of her production schedule with the SATC reboot.

-The fact that Beyonce‘s fans are called the Beyhive and she just revealed that she has beehives on her roof is breaking my brain.

-Netflix has shared the first look at Ava DuVernay and Colin Kaepernick‘s 6-episode biopic series, Colin in Black & White.

-Oof, Jennifer Hudson‘s Respect is NOT getting good reviews.

Ryan Reynolds is promoting his new movie with Stray Kids to appeal to k-pop fans, which is an unbelievably smart way to get your movie trending fast.

Kanye West supposedly taught Kim Kardashian to be more confident. Yes, that’s clearly what she was missing.

-Disney+ is pulling together a Home Alone reboot starring Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, and Kenan Thompson. I like all those people!

-During Disney’s earnings call today, CEO Bob Chapek defended the distribution strategy behind Black Widow that led to a lawsuit from Scarlett Johansson.

Willem Dafoe won’t confirm or deny that he’s going to be in Spider-Man: No Way Home. At this point, it’s almost a sure thing that the movie is going to have all the reunited actors who played Spidey recreate that pointing-at-each-other meme, right?!

Michael B. Jordan keeps a journal for his newborn son while stationed overseas in the trailer for A Journal for Jordan.
