Angelina Jolie Sparkles in Rome

Angelina Jolie and her daughters Zahara and Shiloh were stunning at the Eternal premiere in Rome. This is the best dress she’s worn in ages.  (Her extensions were weak, though.)

-Speaking of the Eternals press tour style, Gemma Chan has been flawless.

-There’s lots of talk that there’s trouble in paradise for John Mulaney and Olivia Munn. Us Weekly is quoting a source who says, “Olivia and John still have to decide what kind of future they’re going to have together, if any. It’s a time of uncertainty, for both of them.” Meanwhile, DeuxMoi is posting blinds about them splitting up.

-Ex Bachelor host Chris Harrison is engaged to Entertainment Tonight reporter Lauren Zima. I appreciate that neither of their IG posts made a joke about giving each other a rose.

-SNL is reportedly scrambling to replace Ed Sheeran as a musical guest after he revealed he tested positive for COVID, and The Mountain Goats have volunteered as tribute.

-In a new stand-up video, Dave Chappelle denies reports that he refused to meet with Netflix’s transgender employees. “That is not true — if they had invited me I would have accepted it, although I am confused about what we would be speaking about.” He added, “To the transgender community, I am more than willing to give you an audience, but you will not summon me. I am not bending to anybody’s demands.”

Kristen Stewart says she’s only proud of 5 movies on her resume. Which ones could they be?!?

-I heartily endorse this video encouraging people to binge the fifth season of The Good Fight. Maybe my fave season yet?

-A search warrant obtained by the L.A. Times details what happened on the set of Rust and in cinematographer Halyna Hutchins‘ final minutes. Alec Baldwin was practicing removing a revolver from its holster and aiming toward the camera during rehearsal. He had been given the gun by the AD, who incorrectly declared it “cold,” which is a term used to describe a weapon that contains no live rounds.

-The showrunner of ABC’s The Rookie is the first to ban live fire from his set following the accident. It’s a good start, but I hope the bigger conversation revolves around how crew members need to be better trained, paid and rested.

Paul Walker‘s daughter got married, and his Fast and the Furious costar Vin Diesel walked her down the aisle in place of her late father.

-The Ruby Rose vs CW/WBTV feud continues. In a new statement, Warner Bros. Television “condemned” Rose’s recent allegations about her TV dad on Batwoman, Dougray Scott. “Warner Bros. has found Mr. Scott to be a consummate professional, and never received any allegation against him of bullying, or of abusive behavior on his part. Mr. Scott was greatly respected and admired by his colleagues, and was a leader on the set.”

-Meanwhile, Rose dropped another bunch of screenshots on Instagram Stories but they’re really hard to read and the messaging is confusing. If she has allegations/proof that the set is unsafe I wish she’d figure out a better way to release it. (It also doesn’t help that her first drop included the incorrect claim that Batwoman didn’t shut down production for Covid until after The Flash, Supergirl and Riverdale. The latter shut down a couple of days before the other CW shows because of a positive test, but the rest all shut down the same day.)

-Also not helping her case, a PA on the show called her a “dictator to work for.”  (She says he wasn’t on the call sheet and didn’t work there, but other crew members came to his defense.)

Jim Caviezel has fallen all the way down the Q rabbit hole.

James Michael Tyler, who played Gunther on Friends, has passed away at age 59 after a battle with prostate cancer.

Dylan Sprouse and Virginia Gardner have been cast in the movie adaptation of Beautiful Disasters. I can’t believe of all the amazing romance novels out there to adapt, they’re going ahead with this book. Not only has this adaptation been struggling to get off the ground for a decade, but lots of people think the book is problematic. Plus, the author keeps creating shitstorms with her social media posts, whether it’s her racists talk, her fatphobia or her anti-v*xx crap.

Brendan Fraser will play the villain in HBO Max’s Batgirl movie. Love this for him.

Nina Dobrev and Abigail Cowen star in the Redeeming Love trailer.

Adele Shows Off Celine Dion’s Used Gum

Adele took Vogue’s 73 questions challenge, and showed off her LA home, which includes her favourite possession — a piece of gum chewed by Celine Dion and framed for her by James Corden.

-The CW drama continues! Batwoman series regular Camrus Johnson weighed in on Ruby Rose’s comments — and he is definitely not taking her side. He tweeted last night, “But yea fam, she was fired. And it is VERY hard to be fired when you’re the lead. Imagine what u have to do for that 2 happen…Since it was claimed she “walked away” last year I’m sure some of you may be pretty confused or upset, and even moreso that a lot of lies were spread today. Just know we have a lot of great souls working on this show and none of this changes that.”

Kristen Stewart says she was flattered by the social media campaign to cast her as the Joker in Robert Pattinson’s Batman film. “I love the energy behind that. It’s really been done so well. I feel like, maybe, we don’t traipse over, but I love that gusto. Let’s figure something else out. I’m totally down to play a freaky, scary person.”

-The Marvels director Nia DaCosta says only one person is to blame for The Snap in Avengers: Infinity War — Captain America. “He should have just sacrificed Vision,” she says, “He chose one robot’s life…over literally the entire universe.” I mean, she’s not wrong.

Brian Cox thinks Succession will go on for five seasons, which sounds like the perfect length.

Michelle and Robert King are known for making TV that captures the Zeitgeist (The Good Wife, The Good Fight, Evil). They talk to Vulture about how it’s become a high-wire act that’s gotten trickier post-Trump.

Penn Badgley was asked about his Gossip Girl character’s worst move and answered correctly. “He’s the worst, but what’s the actual worst thing he did? Okay. Didn’t he—he outed his sister losing her virginity. These storylines are twisted.”

Kate Beckinsale says her high IQ has held her back in Hollywood.

-Oh god — a bunch of huge YA authors are coming together for something that sounds like a very shady MLM/ponzi scheme.

Blake Lively called out a fan account for posting photos of her kids after she asked them to stop.

-The trailer for The Princess Switch 3 has arrived. These are all awful and I will watch every damn second of them…

Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg recreate some Uncharted game moments in the first trailer for the movie.

Angelina Jolie Swings High

Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek and Lauren Radloff

-Elle released a series of covers for their Women in Hollywood issue, including ones featuring The Eternals’ stars Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek and Lauren Radloff. In the shoot, the best pics are of Jolie — mostly because they shot her swinging in a harness over a swimming pool.

-In a series of scathing Instagram posts, actress Ruby Rose finally opened up about her abrupt departure from the CW’s Batwoman, claiming unsafe work conditions and mistreatment by the network/studio. She also called out costar Dougray Scott, who she says “yelled like a little bitch at women and was a nightmare.” (My Ever After-loving heart is breaking.) Warner Bros TV responded with their own harsh words, saying she was fired based on an internal investigation of “multiple complaints about workplace behavior that were extensively reviewed.”  Between this, Brandon Routh and Dominic Purcell leaving Legends under not-great-sounding circumstances, and Supergirl’s Jon Cryer liking tweets about boycotting the network, the CW needs to get their house in order.

-All the bts drama makes me glad that Arrow ended and the decades-long hold the WB/UPN/CW had on me lifted, though the new teaser for The Flash’s crossover event looks good. It will feature Jefferson from Black Lightning, Mia from Arrow, Ray from Legends, Alex from Supergirl, Ryan from Batwoman, and Roy Choi from the last CW crossover.

-Netflix is vehemently disputing the fired staffer’s denial of leaking Dave Chappelle payout information to the press.

-Meanwhile, Ashlee Marie Preston, Jonathan Van Ness, Angelica Ross, Jameela Jamil, Mason Alexander Park, Kate Bornstein, Our Lady J, Sara Ramirez, Peppermint and Colton Haynes appeared in a video to support the walkout of Netflix employees, and Elliot Page (who stars in Netflix’s Umbrella Academy) tweeted it.

-Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy also voiced his support.

-Also, the list of demand for the walkout is very thoughtful — and does not include taking down Chappelle’s special.

Jonah Hill says he doesn’t care that people think he ruined surfing. First, why do people think that? Second, is he searching IG stickers with his name? Third, would anyone know about this if he hadn’t posted it?

Alicia Silverstone says she’s been banned from a dating app twice (likely Raya).

–The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced that it would move forward with handing out Golden Globe awards for the films and TV shows of 2021 — even if it’s not broadcast.

-This is such a good piece on why Mel Gibson keeps getting so many chances. “I’m convinced that far too many people decided that Weinstein’s punishment was proof enough that they’d fixed the problem. Not only that but it became the new benchmark for abuse.”

Freida Pinto is the latest celeb to reveal a secret wedding during lockdown.

Meryl Streep, Kit Harington and Matthew Rhys will head the ensemble of an eight-episode drama on Apple TV+ about climate change.

Adele described her unique way of eating chips and I’m very intrigued!

-This is a great interview with Shalita Grant on playing the comic relief in You and Search Party.

-The finale for Only Murders in the Building aired this week and I was surprised how continually charmed I was by that show.  Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez made a fascinating team, Amy Ryan is always stellar, and Tina Fey has a quip at the end of the finale that I’m still laughing about.

-Netflix is moving ahead with a To All The Boys spinoff focused on the youngest daughter, Kitty.

-Here’s a clip of Anya Taylor-Joy singing “Downtown” for the soundtrack to Last Night in Soho.

Jamie Dornan and Caitriona Balfe star in the Belfast trailer, written and directed by Kenneth Branagh. Audiences adored this at TIFF, where it won the People’s Choice Award.
