Castle’s Nathan Fillion Breaks Silence on Stana Katic’s Exit

-Why does it feel like a network show is imploding every week these days? Today, it’s Castle’s turn. I don’t watch the show but even I’d heard rumblings about the long-rumoured onset tensions. Now the lead actress has been let go (add her to the ever-growing fired actress pile!) and though the official explanation is “financial reasons,” even the trades are mentioning her reported troubles with Nathan Fillion (who didn’t really help matters with his delayed, impersonal statement about it — especially compared with her other coworkers’ responses.)

-Meanwhile, Us Weekly says things got so bad between Fillion and Stana Katic last season that the network made them go to “couples counseling.” It clearly didn’t work.

Jared Leto knew better to pull any of his stupid Joker bullshit on Viola Davis during the Suicide Squad shoot.

-Wayment — are we actually supposed to *feel bad* for Chris Brown when watching this new documentary?! Hard pass.

Prince Harry and Prince William visited the Star Wars 8 set and it was ADORABLE!

-Meanwhile, Force Awakens favourites  Oscar Isaac and BB-8 reunited for charity. Also adorbs.

Joss Whedon is very sorry for making everyone think he hated the last Avengers movie. (He still hasn’t apologized for his bitch-flounce off Twitter, tho.)

-Allow Taylor Swift to take you on a tour of her Beverly Hills home while talking about cats, cakes, terrible cocktails (vodka Diet Coke? Jesus.) during Vogue’s latest 73 Questions video.

Stephen and Robbie Amell’s crowdfunding movie just passed the million-dollar mark. That makes me feel better about not contributing yet. I mean, I will eventually because I’m not a monster but still…

Patrick Stewart makes a better woman than I could ever hope to be. Depressing but unsurprising.

-Buzzfeed titled this article “This selfie of Milo Ventimiglia proves he’s still the hottest of Rory Gilmore’s boyfriends” and my entire Twitter TL was like:
-Congrats to Oliva Wilde and Jason Sudeikis, who are having another baby.

Michael Strahan is leaving Live with Kelly and Michael. Can someone other than me break this news to my mother? I will pay you in doughnuts.

Aisha Tyler talks about dealing with sexism and getting good advice from Jennifer Aniston in this new article about her crowdfunding efforts to direct. She also revealed on The Talk that she separated from her husband last year but is trying to shelter him from any public fallout because she’s a wonderful human being.

-Speaking of wonderful human beings, Tracy Morgan canceled a comedy show in Mississippi over their anti-LGBTQ law — and he did a special comedy show for the staff of the hospital that saved his life.

-“I’m a little gay & there’s a gay James,” says James Franco. Um, ok.

-Dafuq is going on with Elizabeth Banks‘ Power Rangers costume? The whole point of this movie is nostalgia so of course, just go ahead and change everything.

-I love that Emily Nussbaum just won Pulitzer for TV criticism. I’ve been reading her since she first posted an awesome defense of Sex and the City and I saw her moderate Mindy Kaling’s panel at the Vulture fest. She’s excellent.

-Holy crap, guys. NBC is so rough right now that The Mysteries of Laura looks like it will make it to a third season. How?!

Emilia Clarke recruited the Broad City girls in her mission to “free the P” on Game of Thrones.

Jennifer Garner‘s 44th birthday party included a marching band. I like her style!

Stephen Colbert mocked Johnny Deep and Amber Heard‘s strange apology with his own apology to Australia.

-Vulture has a great piece on how every [white] actor you love will eventually make a superhero movie.

-Like us, Michelle Williams likes to imagine a Dawson’s Creek reunion. But also like us, she doesn’t think it’ll ever happen.

Matt Damon‘s return as Jason Bourne gets teased in two new videos.

-Vampires unite! After just six months of dating, Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed are already engaged.

Gwyneth Paltrow‘s “I’m relatable! Honest!” press tour for Mortdecai made a pit stop on Fallon’s Tonight Show last night, where she sang Broadway versions of rap songs. It’s cute, but her onsie is a whole lot of “um, wut?!?”

-Speaking of late-night antics, on Kimmel last night Sir Patrick Stewart perfectly demonstrated the most annoying people on planes, and Jessica Chastain made a fake gum commercial.

-Well, that didn’t last long. Rosie Perez is reportedly out as a co-host of The View.

-Wait, Miley Cyrus and her brother are both dating Schwarzenegger siblings? That’s a reality show waiting to happen.

-Well, this might be the least-watched Oscars ever judging by today’s nominations, which eschewed blockbusters for indie fare. And white dudes. So. Many. White. Dudes. There were lots of big names unexpectedly left off the list (the ones that hurt me the most were Jake Gyllenhaal, Ava DuVernay, David Oyelowo, Nick Hornby, and Gillian Flynn) but on the plus side, we don’t have to add the words “Oscar nominee” before Jennifer Aniston’s name! I saw Two Nights, One Day last night and Marion Cotillard definitely deserved that slot.

-This is cute: Ethan Hawke says he’s helping his Boyhood movie kids navigate Oscar season.

Emma Stone’s reaction to her Oscar nomination made me love her even more.

-Everyone’s freaking out over Taylor Swift’s reaction to seeing ex Harry Styles, but I think she did just fine (though maybe that’s because I half expected her to recreate the last half of the “Blank Space” video.)

Tom Hardy dropped out of playing Rick Flag in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie, and rumour has it that Jake Gyllenhaal is set to replace him.

-Speaking of comic book fare, Stephen Amell‘s face when this interviewer says she thinks Arrow’s Oliver is still in love with Laurel just made my life. (It’s around the 3:46 mark.)

Mariah Carey is finally getting her own Vegas residency. I’m amazed it took her this long.

-One of the actresses from Reign just launched a feminist website celebrating women’s sexuality, and it’s surprisingly great.

John Travolta must have really wanted to hook up with this guy at the gym if he let him take a photo of him without his hairpiece.

-Here’s the first trailer for Anarchy, starring Ethan Hawke, Penn Badgley, Dakota Johnson and Ed Harris, who is apparently in every new movie trailer this week.

The 2013 Kardashian Christmas Card Has Landed!

The 2013 Kardashian family Christmas card, photographed by David LaChapelle.

-The annual horror that is the Kardashian family Christmas card has landed, and this one is even more batshit than usual. Missing from the photo are Scott Disick, Rob Kardashian, Kanye West, Baby North and Lamar Odom. Not missing are a bunch of weird Easter eggs/hidden clues.

Amy Adams is all kinds of pretty on the cover of Vanity Fair.

-Good on Maria Bello, who came out in an essay she wrote for the New York Times this weekend. (The Hollywood Reporter identifies the woman she’s talking about as new media executive Clare Munn.) Bello also revealed that she nearly died this summer.

Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan celebrated Thanksgiving together because the universe is wonderful.

Joe Jonasfeature in New York Magazine is a pretty terrifying look into the Disney machine. It’s also pretty dishy. He implies he lost his virginity to Ashley Greene, and adds “The first time I smoked weed was with Demi and Miley. I must have been 17 or 18. They kept saying, Try it! Try it!”

-Speaking of Demi Lovato, she’s also opening up about her troubled past in the new issue of Nylon.

-A new clip from Inside Llewyn Davis is out and looks great (despite the presence of Justin Timberlake. Adam Driver is making up for it.).

-The Paul Walker stuff continues to be incredibly sad. His father released a teary statement, celebrities continue to express their grief on Twitter, EW compiled a great retrospective of his off-camera charity efforts, his Running Scared director penned a Facebook tribute, Jordana Brewster called him “an enormous presence” in her life, and the producers of his upcoming movie The Hours said they’re sticking with plans to release it this month. Also, his Fast and the Furious costar Tyrese Gibson visited the crash site and broke down in tears, which is sad but there’s also an element of like, um, what are you doing?

-Man, it has been way too long since I’ve seen photos of Scott Speedman. So long, in fact, that I’m going to overlook the weird hair thing he’s got going on.

-Oh dear. What’s up with Linda Evangelista’s face?

The first photos from the set of Fifty Shades of Grey have surfaced. Jamie Dornan is looking predictably fine.

-Another very, very NSFW clip from Lars von Trier‘s Nymphomaniac has landed, this one featuring Charlotte Gainsbourg and Jamie Bell. What are you doing with that whip, Billy Elliot?!

Lindsay Lohan is reportedly suing over her likeness being used in Grand Theft Auto V.

Will Ferrell co-anchored an actual newscast in North Dakota this weekend as Ron Burgundy.

-Despite his new movie being three hours (I’m never going to get over that), serious Oscar buzz is building for Leonardo DiCaprio. This is shaping up to be an intense Best Actor race.

This video about ‘shipping unlikely fictional couples is kind of perfect.

John Noble returns to Sleepy Hollow tonight. And Victor Garber has just been cast as Crane’s father. Spy Daddy!

-Speaking of good TV, I’m glad everyone’s on the Josh Charles train for this season of The Good Wife. I’ve been a proud ticket holder since Sports Night.

-This news comes from the National Enquirer so take it with a grain of salt, but I hope this story about Miley Cyrus buying dinner for a couple she disturbed at a New York restaurant is true. She could use some good press.

-Speaking of Miley, she’ll be featured on Barbara Walters annual, increasingly irrelevant Most Fascinating People special, along with Kimye and Jennifer Lawrence.

Kate Moss is doing Playboy again, celebrating the mag’s 60th anniversary with a retro cover.

-A teaser trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has surfaced…in Spanish.

Taystee and Crazy Eyes from Orange is the New Black made a music video!

-Have Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom swapped partners with their best couple friends? (I call that “The Shania Twain.”)

-Here’s a new trailer for Tracks, starring Mia Wasikowska (who got rave reviews for her performance at TIFF). It looks great, but using M83‘s “Outro” is a bit like cheating, no?
