Doja Cat Is Putting Dr. Luke Behind Her

doja cat rolling stone

Doja Cat is on the January cover of Rolling Stone Magazine. I’ve seen pics and videos of this woman a hundred times and I still can’t pick her out of a lineup. Total face blindness when it comes to her. In the interview, she was asked about her working relationship with Dr. Luke, whom Kesha has accused of abuse. “I haven’t worked with him in a very long time. A lot of those songs were…. There’s shit that he’s credited for, where I’m like, ‘‘Hmm, I don’t know, I don’t know if you did anything on that.’ The point is he’s gotten some credit for shit. And, you know, it’s whatever. I don’t think I need to work with him again. I don’t think I need to work with him in the future. I know that…I think it was definitely nice of me to work with him.”

-Well. John Mulaney and Olivia Munn secretly welcomed their baby last month, according to TMZ.

-Actress Zoe Lister-Jones says Chris Noth was often drunk and inappropriate on the set of Law & Order.

-In light of the new allegations, Peleton has pulled their ad with Noth.

-Full reviews are still embargoed until Thursday, but the first reactions to The Matrix Resurrections hit Twitter and they are mostly glowing.

Keanu Reeves showed up for the Toronto premiere last night. He’s the only celeb who can get away with not wearing a mask (at least he asked the crowd about it).

-Covid is messing up productions again. Both The Crown and Ghosts had to halt filming this week due to active cases on set.

-Meanwhile, Variety did a new story on covid affecting Hollywood and this paragraph has me wondering which two actresses they’re talking about: “Also in recent days, rumblings about two unvaccinated actresses has grown louder and more concerned — one up for Oscar contention in a prominent indie, the other the headliner of a December tentpole. The women continue to engage in publicity for their respective projects, some in person, which has alarmed the publicists and actors who are working the circuit alongside them.” The big tentpole moves out this month are really just Matrix, West Side Story and Spider-Man, no? Mayyyyybe Nightmare Alley and Don’t Look Up, but those feel like a stretch.

-When asked if he would ever consider guesting on girlfriend Zendaya‘s show Euphoria, Tom Holland said “Listen, I have been petitioning for this for a long time and it has not happened yet.” Make it work, HBO!

-I can’t stop watching the videos of Spider-Man crowd reactions. If I wasn’t so scared to leave my house again, I’d be there this weekend.

-Meanwhile, Spider-Man: No Way Home is poised to gross $200 million at the domestic box office, which is insane even in non-pandemic times.

George Clooney was on Kimmel last night and Julia Roberts silently crashed his interview.

-She hasn’t posted yet, but Beyonce has joined TikTok.

Reese Witherspoon‘s reaction to hearing that Matthew McConaughey used to have a crush on her is all kinds of cute.

Eric Clapton continues to make headlines for all the wrong reasons. The latest: he successfully sued a woman who tried to sell a bootleg CD on eBay.

Paul Rudd celebrates his fifth time hosting in this week’s SNL promos.

Sarah Snook says Succession’s finale parking lot scene was horrible to shoot. “I’m in high heels, and it’s a 45-degree incline. There’s rocks and stones. It’s a tight dress, and my makeup is melting off. And now it’s windy.” The whole time I was watching it I was marveling at her ability to hold a squat in heels that long.

Adrien Brody tries to find redemption in the Clean trailer.

Lady Gaga Mines Her Pain

-In her THR cover story, Lady Gaga talks about how she channeled her own trauma and nearly came undone while shooting House of Gucci. All of her quotes about staying in character during the shoot are so over the top and this whole promo tour is going to be wild. “My mother and father met me as Patrizia a couple times. And they were mostly laughing because my family gets a kick out of my love of artistry. … There’s a downside to committing yourself to a role in that way because it’s an adjustment for everybody around you. Suddenly, you’re not talking to Stefani anymore with an accent. You’re talking to Patrizia Gucci.”

Adam Driver says he and Lady Gaga improvised feral noises of their House of Gucci sex scene: ‘We were feeling it!’

Britney Spears posted a video celebrating her new freedoms, and it starkly underscores how restricted her life was. “Being able to have the keys to my car…and owning an ATM card and accessing cash for the first time, being able to buy candles — it’s the little things for us women but it makes a huge difference.”

-After starring in Taylor Swift‘s new video, Miles Teller took to Twitter to say, “Hey guys, I don’t usually feel the need to address rumors on here but I am vaccinated and have been for a while.” (In September, both the Daily Mail and The Hollywood Reporter reported delays on The Offer, a TV series featuring Teller about the making of The Godfather, because the actor reportedly refused to get vaccinated against COVID.)

-In the wake of Taylor‘s new songs, her fans are going after John Mayer.

Rockmond Dunbar has left Fox’s 911 over the show’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate. He said in a statement, “I applied for religious and medical accommodations pursuant to the law and unfortunately was denied by my employer.”

Meghan Markle was on The Ellen Show (which was an odd choice, no?). It will air tomorrow but they showed a cute clip of her talking about going to auditions with her busted car.

Olivia Munn says there’s lots of incorrect speculation surrounding her relationship with John Mulaney. She told the LA Times it’s “definitely not foreign for me to have people speculate incorrectly about things and to have rumors run rampant in one way. They think they know our relationship so well. When in reality, they don’t. There’s no way anyone could know what any of his relationships were or what our relationship is.”

Elle Fanning is fans with Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend, and she says they all fangirled when they were at the same party with the cast of Squid Game. “It was interesting because Leo was kind of around there, and Cami and I were freaking out, and he was like, ‘Guys, act cool. Relax.’ And then we were like, ‘It’s Squid Game!’ And he was like, ‘It is?! Where?!’ So he was excited too.”

-Are we having fun yet?!? A Party Down revival has been ordered at Starz with multiple original cast members returning, including Adam Scott, Jane Lynch, Ken Marino, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen and Megan Mullally. I’m bummed that Lizzy Caplan seems out because of scheduling issues.

-The Harry Potter cast is set to reunite for the 20th anniversary on a HBO Max special — and J.K. Rowling won’t be included.

Jennifer Coolidge is joining Ryan Murphy‘s upcoming series about a couple being stalked.

-Both of the IATSE contracts have been ratified. But when it comes to the big Hollywood agreement it only passed because of the electoral college-style voting system. Popular vote was 49.6% yes to 50.4% no.

-The reviews of Adele‘s new album 30 are calling it her best.

Channing Tatum is put in charge of an angry service dog in the first trailer for his buddy trip movie, which is unimaginatively titled Dog.

Kirsten Dunst says the disparity between her Spider-Man salary and Tobey Maguire’s was “very extreme.” “I didn’t even think about it. I was just like, ‘Oh yeah, Tobey is playing Spider-Man.’ But you know who was on the cover of the second Spider-Man poster? Spider-Man and ME.”

-In the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, Peter and Dr. Strange botch a spell to make everyone forget Spider-Man’s real identity, which leads to visitors from every universe, including Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Alfred Molina‘s Dr. Octopus, the Sandman from Spider-Man 3 and the Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man. (This is a good post laying out all the ways this movie could go.)

Angelina Jolie Sparkles in Rome

Angelina Jolie and her daughters Zahara and Shiloh were stunning at the Eternal premiere in Rome. This is the best dress she’s worn in ages.  (Her extensions were weak, though.)

-Speaking of the Eternals press tour style, Gemma Chan has been flawless.

-There’s lots of talk that there’s trouble in paradise for John Mulaney and Olivia Munn. Us Weekly is quoting a source who says, “Olivia and John still have to decide what kind of future they’re going to have together, if any. It’s a time of uncertainty, for both of them.” Meanwhile, DeuxMoi is posting blinds about them splitting up.

-Ex Bachelor host Chris Harrison is engaged to Entertainment Tonight reporter Lauren Zima. I appreciate that neither of their IG posts made a joke about giving each other a rose.

-SNL is reportedly scrambling to replace Ed Sheeran as a musical guest after he revealed he tested positive for COVID, and The Mountain Goats have volunteered as tribute.

-In a new stand-up video, Dave Chappelle denies reports that he refused to meet with Netflix’s transgender employees. “That is not true — if they had invited me I would have accepted it, although I am confused about what we would be speaking about.” He added, “To the transgender community, I am more than willing to give you an audience, but you will not summon me. I am not bending to anybody’s demands.”

Kristen Stewart says she’s only proud of 5 movies on her resume. Which ones could they be?!?

-I heartily endorse this video encouraging people to binge the fifth season of The Good Fight. Maybe my fave season yet?

-A search warrant obtained by the L.A. Times details what happened on the set of Rust and in cinematographer Halyna Hutchins‘ final minutes. Alec Baldwin was practicing removing a revolver from its holster and aiming toward the camera during rehearsal. He had been given the gun by the AD, who incorrectly declared it “cold,” which is a term used to describe a weapon that contains no live rounds.

-The showrunner of ABC’s The Rookie is the first to ban live fire from his set following the accident. It’s a good start, but I hope the bigger conversation revolves around how crew members need to be better trained, paid and rested.

Paul Walker‘s daughter got married, and his Fast and the Furious costar Vin Diesel walked her down the aisle in place of her late father.

-The Ruby Rose vs CW/WBTV feud continues. In a new statement, Warner Bros. Television “condemned” Rose’s recent allegations about her TV dad on Batwoman, Dougray Scott. “Warner Bros. has found Mr. Scott to be a consummate professional, and never received any allegation against him of bullying, or of abusive behavior on his part. Mr. Scott was greatly respected and admired by his colleagues, and was a leader on the set.”

-Meanwhile, Rose dropped another bunch of screenshots on Instagram Stories but they’re really hard to read and the messaging is confusing. If she has allegations/proof that the set is unsafe I wish she’d figure out a better way to release it. (It also doesn’t help that her first drop included the incorrect claim that Batwoman didn’t shut down production for Covid until after The Flash, Supergirl and Riverdale. The latter shut down a couple of days before the other CW shows because of a positive test, but the rest all shut down the same day.)

-Also not helping her case, a PA on the show called her a “dictator to work for.”  (She says he wasn’t on the call sheet and didn’t work there, but other crew members came to his defense.)

Jim Caviezel has fallen all the way down the Q rabbit hole.

James Michael Tyler, who played Gunther on Friends, has passed away at age 59 after a battle with prostate cancer.

Dylan Sprouse and Virginia Gardner have been cast in the movie adaptation of Beautiful Disasters. I can’t believe of all the amazing romance novels out there to adapt, they’re going ahead with this book. Not only has this adaptation been struggling to get off the ground for a decade, but lots of people think the book is problematic. Plus, the author keeps creating shitstorms with her social media posts, whether it’s her racists talk, her fatphobia or her anti-v*xx crap.

Brendan Fraser will play the villain in HBO Max’s Batgirl movie. Love this for him.

Nina Dobrev and Abigail Cowen star in the Redeeming Love trailer.
