Timothée Chalamet Interviews Zendaya for Elle

Zendaya-elle

-I have extreme sneaker envy over Zendaya’s Elle cover. She’s interviewed by Dune costar Timothée Chalamet so the article itself is as substantial as cotton candy, but the photo spread is excellent.

-I’m trying so hard to get back into The Crown because I love Gillian Anderson, but man, that season premiere felt like it was 47 hours. Emma Corrin is great as Diana though. She covers the new issue of British GQ.

Jennifer Garner listed the 10 things she can’t live without and I love that for the most part, they’re all inexpensive, normal people things.

Ryan Reynolds and It’s Always Sunny star Rob McEllhenney have acquired a Welsh soccer club. I see someone’s been watching Succession…

-The CW is doing a Jane Austen anthology series based on her books, which led to a Jezebel headline that I heartily endorse: “The Time Has Come to Let Lizzy Bennet Fuck”

-The Vampire Diaries’ Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev had a very cute exchange about adopting Justin Bieber.

-After months and months of John Oliver lusting after him, Adam Driver appeared on his show to ask “What the f**k are you doing?” He (fake) ranted “This bit? This bit, this thing you’ve been doing that’s either sexual or violent? This strange, strange bit that for some reason you’ve pulled me into? What is it? When you first started doing it, it was easy for me to shrug it off. But then it kept going on, and on, and on, and on… Do you realize, over this past year, what you’ve asked me to do to you? ‘Collapse on your chest.’ ‘Tie your fingers in a square knot.’ ‘Step on your throat.’ ‘Shatter your knees.’ ‘Pull your heart out through your ear.’ What’s wrong with you? You realize we’re strangers, right? I don’t know you. And now, random people on the internet stan us, claiming that you thirsting over me is a mood.” I love them both so much.

Jack Black did the WAP dance on TikTok, to glowing reviews.

-Netflix’s Dash and Lily is an underrated holiday gem, if you’re looking for a quick binge.

Blake Lively Draws Louboutins Onto Her Feet

Blake Lively badly photoshopping a pair of shoes onto her feet is the content I needed today. She posted “@louboutinworld are you hiring? Barefoot iPhone doodler with vast experience avail.”

-Oh goodie. Now Josh Brolin has weighed in on Chris Pratt, complaining about the “global hate hand job” everyone’s giving his costar. Why won’t they stop?

-Just in case you thought 2020 couldn’t get weirder, Daniel Kaluuya confirmed his live-action Barney movie is really happening and it will be darker than the OG TV show. “Barney taught us, ‘I love you, you love me. Won’t you say you love me too?’ That’s one of the first songs I remember, and what happens when that isn’t true?”

Matthew McConaughey says he was sexually abused as a teenager in his new memoir Greenlights, writing “I was blackmailed into having sex for the first time when I was 15. I was certain I was going to hell for the premarital sex. Today, I am merely certain that I hope that’s not the case.” He also mentions an incident when he was “molested by a man when I was 18 while knocked unconscious in the back of a van.” Still, he remained an optimist. “I’ve never felt like a victim. I have a lot of proof that the world is conspiring to make me happy.”

-The cover of Cicely Tyson’s memoir is stunning. It’s a portrait taken by Lord Snowden.

-CBS’ and Trump have been in a pissing contest all day that includes a lot of early clip releases from his 60 Minutes interview that’s airing Sunday.

-The more we hear about the Synder cut, the more it’s clear that this thing never actually existed.

-Wait, so Netflix has reportedly renewed Steve Carell’s Space Force but keeps cancelling shows people actually like? WTF?

-The trailer for the Netflix film The Prom has dropped, starring Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Kerry Washington, and James Corden. How many times am I going to get sucked into watching a Ryan Murphy joint and instantly regret it? At least one more, apparently.

Scarlett Johansson Calls Herself the “Second Choice”

Scarlett Johansson parade

Scarlett Johansson is on the cover of Parade, where she talks about getting the role of Black Widow after Emily Blunt bowed out (“The best call you can receive is after you are rejected for something and then you get it. You appreciate it more. I’ve basically made a career out of being second choice”), and being engaged to SNL’s Colin Jost (“What you see is what you get with him. He’s very optimistic, easygoing, funny, nice, and those are the qualities that really drew me to him”).

-Also, Stanley Tucci is back to making cocktails for our viewing pleasure.

Riz Ahmed tells GQ: “I have lost two family members to COVID. I just want to believe their deaths and all the others aren’t for nothing. We gotta step up to reimagine a better future.”

Judd Apatow and Pete Davidson‘s The King of Staten Island is migrating to a digital release. It’ll be on demand on June 12. Seth Rogen‘s An American Pickle has also moved from a Sony theatrical release to HBO Max. There’s a very real chance that comedy releases on streaming becomes the norm, while theatrical releases are limited to big budget tentpoles.

-The Oscars’ Board of Governors will meet virtually tomorrow. It’ll be interesting how Oscar season plays out, with most fall film festivals probably not happening (except maybe Telluride), and a fall theatrical marketplace that will likely contain fewer functioning cinemas operating at partial capacity.
