Chrissy Teigen Talks Speaking Up and Stepping Back

chrissy teigen marie claire

Chrissy Teigen covers the new issue of Marie Claire and talks about stepping away from social media (“I’m barely online anymore, and that was at the request of my therapist. I didn’t start therapy until quarantine. I used to avoid it and make fun of the idea of it, and then I found the right person and it changed my world”), and voting out Trump (“People are very confident in their ways of being open about their racism because they have the backing views of the president. It’s become such a hurtful, weird presidency for so many Americans, and I’m going to fight to get this person out of office”).

-Whoa. The Kardashians just announced an end to their reality show. Love ’em or hate ’em, they changed reality TV, dominated every new social media app that sprang up over the 20 seasons they were airing, and ushered in influencer culture.

-The Crown star Emma Corrin talks about playing Princess Diana in British Vogue: “I feel I’ve got to know Diana like you would a friend. I know that sounds really weird, but I get a great sense of companionship from her.”

Prince Harry and Megan Markle have paid back the renovations on Frogmore Cottage so they literally own the British people nothing and can live their life in peace without the UK press whining about them (at least, one can dream).

-Disney’s Mulan is facing a new wave of criticism for being filmed partly in Xinjiang, the region in China where Uighur Muslims are being detained in mass internment camps. This, on top of reviews from some critics who are questioning why an Asian director wasn’t chosen. This one was making the rounds today: “Were there any Asians on the creative team? An editor? A screenwriter? The composer? Anyone? I think maybe the make-up designer, plus a couple of producers looking to cash in. Whatever. Did I mention how tired I am?”

Zac Efron has been living in Australia for a while, and he has been spotted holding hands with Australian model Vanessa Valladares. I’ve been watching his Netflix show and he kept mentioning how he needed to leave Hollywood so him hanging out down under and starting a new relationshipe? Love that for him.

-Black Panther’s Lupita Nyong’o posted an emotional tribute to Chadwick Boseman on her Instagram: “It doesn’t make sense.”

Dwayne Johnson thanked New Jersey first responders by outfitting the Ridgefield Fire Department in New Jersey with brand-new pairs of his Under Armour shoes. The donation came days after he announced that he and his immediate family all contracted coronavirus, and while their daughters bounced back quickly, he and his wife Lauren “had a rough go at it.” He said, “I could tell you that this has been one of the most challenging and difficult things we have ever had to endure as a family, and for me, too, personally as well. And I’ve gone through some doozies in the past.”

-A former children’s TV presenter in Britain has denied he is the elusive graffiti artist Banksy after a theory posted online went viral. I don’t know this guy but he looks like a Wiggle, which would make it hilarious if true.

-I adore Sarah Paulson but the trailer for Ratched on Netflix leaves me cold. Is it supposed to look like yet another season of American Horror Story?

-In celebration of #StarTrekDay, here’s the new trailer for season 3 of Star Trek: Discovery.

-Photographers discuss about what red carpets could and should look like when events return.

-Tenet did ok box office business in theatres. It’s a Nolan movie though, so the usual complaints about sound mixing remain.

-Another day, another recycled Venice outfit from Cate Blanchett.

-This is an interesting look at how the odd film festival season is going to make for an even more odd Oscar season, with indies expected to make more headway than usual.

-One Night in Miami, Regina King‘s directorial debut, premiered to unanimously positive reviews last night at the Venice Film Festival.

-Speaking of festival movies that are gaining buzz, here’s the trailer for Nomadland starring Frances McDormand.

-Netflix has dropped the Rebecca trailer, starring Lily James and Armie Hammer. It’s been a while since I read the book but isn’t the second wife supposed to be “plain”? I’m not sure James qualifies. At least Kristen Scott Thomas seems to be having a blast as Mrs. Danvers.

Daniel Craig Covers GQ

Daniel Craig is on the new issue of GQ, and did we all know he was working with this? He’s 52! My goodness.

Justin Beiber‘s tour ticket sales have been so sluggish, he’s had to downsize a number of venues.

Prince Harry and Megan Markle finished their week of royal duties at a Commonwealth Day service, and Prince William and Kate appeared to keep their distance. In particular, this video seems to show a snub.

-I liked Harry and Megan‘s coordinated green outfits, (though I do agree that the fit of her dress could be better). I prefered the red dress she wore this weekend.

-Asked about Prince Andrew‘s initial offer of cooperation in the Jeffrey Epstein case, U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman says the royal has “completely shut the door on any voluntary cooperation” and his office is “considering our options.”

Elizabeth Warren and Kate McKinnon did the best “drop the flip switch” challenge yet.

Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas continue to get spotted together.

-It’s actually kind of shocking that this is the first time Goran Visnjic (ER, Practical Magic) has been cast as Dracula.

DaBaby apologized on Instagram after hitting a woman in the crowd of an afterparty.

-Lost’s Evangeline Lilly opened up about a”rough” time last year in an Instagram post: “I didn’t want to share all of it with you because i didn’t want to be a dark cloud in your world…I struggle deeply with feeling that all I ever am is what I feel everyone else wants and needs me to be. I often feel alone and unseen.”

-The full Allure cover story on the Dixie Chicks is now available online, and in it the writer says “I am meeting the Dixie Chicks to not discuss their new album, Gaslighter. It is their first in 14 years, but due to ongoing legal disputes, we cannot talk about it.” The legal dispute likely refers to what’s going on between Natalie Maines and Heroes star Adrian Pasdar, whose divorced was finalized in Dec but are still fighting about the confidentiality clause in the the prenuptial agreement.

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union continue to be wonderful parents.

-Modern Family’s Ed O’Neill was on Ellen, where he told a funny story about always embarrassing his teen daughters by introducing them to celebrities he’s never met, so his daughter refused to meet Leonardo DiCaprio — who he actually knows.

Ellen Pompeo and T.R. Knight reunited the day after Alex shocker on Grey’s. I bet they had some catching up to do.

-I can’t believe I watched the entire season of The Outsiders and had no clue that last night’s finale (which wasn’t very good) would include an important post-credits scene. HBO has got to stop doing that.

-Between Stephen King lamenting Hachette’s choice to “muzzle” Woody Allen, and Bill Maher defending Chris Matthews, it’s probably a good time to remind everyone that rich white dudes aren’t automatically entitled to lucrative publishing and TV contracts.

-These PS I Still Love You bloopers are very cute.

Lil Yachty dressed up like Oprah to interview Drake in their new music video.

-The new trailer for Black Widow (which is still slated to come out May 1…for now) looks great and makes me even angrier about Natasha’s fate in Endgame.

Meghan Markle Sues UK Tabloid For Publishing Private Letter

-House Sussex is suing the Daily Mail over their terrible coverage of Prince Harry and (especially) Megan Markle and is paying for the lawsuit themselves. If they win in court, proceeds from the lawsuit will be donated to anti-bullying charities. Perfect timing, as the couple is currently on tour. Prince Harry penned a blistering letter about the lawsuit, saying “I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditised to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person. I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces.”

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin‘s wedding ceremony in South Carolina last night had a photo booth — which means there are tons of pics on IG.

-So Felicity Huffman got a super sympathetic People cover? Huh.

-Supermodel GiGi Hadid was NOT having it when a YouTube prankster got up on the runway at the Chanel fashion show in Paris.

-There’s a shady report about Adele dating grime musician Skepta and I’m kinda here for it?

Angelina Jolie took her large fam to her movie premiere. They’re soo grown up!

-The press tour for Joker continues to disintegrate before our eyes. Todd Phillips seems to think SJWs are trying to ruin comedy: “Go try to be funny nowadays with this woke culture. There were articles written about why comedies don’t work anymore—I’ll tell you why, because all the fucking funny guys are like, ‘Fuck this shit, because I don’t want to offend you.’ It’s hard to argue with 30 million people on Twitter. You just can’t do it, right? So you just go, ‘I’m out.'” As gross as this is, it seems tailor-made to resonate with the type of dudes they keep insisting this film isn’t courting.

-I am very much looking forward to Amazon’s limited series Modern Love, and glowing reviews like this are only helping its case.

Selena Gomez wrote a powerful essay on the immigration crisis for Time magazine. “I don’t claim to be an expert. I’m not a politician, I’m not a doctor, and I don’t work in the system at all. I understand it’s flawed and that we need rules and regulations, but we also have to remember that our country was formed by people who came here from other countries. It’s time to listen to the people whose lives are being directly affected by immigration policies.”

-Here’s the 6 Underground trailer, starring Ryan Reynolds and Melanie Laurent and directed by (ugh) Michael Bay.
