W’s Great Performances Covers

-A slew of stars posed for W’s Great Performances issues, and some covers were way zanier than others.

Jake Gyllenhaal is seemingly trolling Swifties in his photoshoot for W Magazine, where he sports a pair of red heart sunglasses that are almost identical to the ones Taylor Swift wore in her “22” music video. I love this level of pettiness.

-In his W profile, Adam Driver says he doesn’t attend wrap parties. “I haven’t been to a wrap party since Girls. I just want to get the character out of my system and go home.” What a bummer for the crew.

-Love is dead. Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet have announced their split.

-On the other side of the coin, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly got engaged. (I’m so curious about who was filming this. There are multiple angles in the video!) Also, is there a proposal uniform? His buddy Travis Barker wore a similar shirt. (This is my fave tweet about it.)

-Welp. The Queen has stripped Prince Andrew of his military affiliations and he will “no longer use the style ‘His Royal Highness’ in any official capacity.” The palace added in their brief statement that he will be defending himself in the sexual abuse case “as a private citizen.”

Kanye West was allegedly involved in a battery incident in Los Angeles. He was named as a suspect in a battery report (rumoured to involve him hitting a fan) taken by the LAPD’s Newton Division early on Thursday morning. TMZ has video of him yelling at someone, though its not clear who. He was not arrested and a rep has yet to comment.

-Before all that hubbub, he was with Julia Fox, Madonna and Floyd Mayweather at Delilah nightclub last night. There’s a really cringey video of them all listening to music.

-Meanwhile, Julia Fox addressed criticism about their relationship, denying that they’re only spending time together for attention.

Bob Saget‘s widow is expressing her gratitude for John Mayer and Jeff Ross, who picked up his car from LAX for her.

David Beckham packed wife Victoria Beckham‘s lunch with a note that said, “Enjoy lunch ***hole… Come home happier.” She posted it with the caption, “Even when I’m grumpy he looks after me.”

Halle Berry penned a tribute to Sidney Poitier: “I was a child who, like my parents’ interracial relationship, never quite fit in. In those years, it was rare to see Blacks in leading roles, much less have our narratives celebrated or even acknowledged.”

-I keep trying to avoid the Drake/hot sauce story but the memes are hilarious.

-Ohhhh, Nicole Kidman *should* host the Oscars.

-This is a great interview with Matilda Lawler, the 13-year-old who’s crushing it on Station Eleven.

-There’s been a lot of speculation about who will play fan favourite Nikolai in the second season of Shadow and Bone — and Patrick Gibson of The OA has landed the role. Other new cast members include Anna Leong Brophy as Tamar, Lewis Tan as Tolya, and The Witcher’s Jack Wolfe as Wylan. Everyone looks pretty much how I pictured them when reading the books (though the guy who plays Wylan looks like a child, but IMDB assures me he’s 26).

-The reviews for How I Met Your Father with Hilary Duff are very not good.

-A Degrassi revival series has been ordered by HBO Max.

Jean-Marc Vallée finished writing a film about Yoko Ono and John Lennon before his sudden death last month.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw moves into a haunted house in the trailer for The Girl Before.

Brad Pitt, Chris Evans, Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson Among W’s Performers of the Year

-W released its Best Performances issue and I pretty much hate all of the styling. Brad Pitt looks weirdly skinny, Adam Driver‘s face is practically covered by a cup, Scarlett Johansson looks sick and for the love of god how hard is it to put Chris Evans in a cableknit?!

Cameron Diaz, 47, announced that she and hubby Benji Madden, 40, are the proud new parents of a baby girl they named Raddix.

This photo from today’s AFI luncheon captures all of my favourite things: champagne and both of my current unlikely crushes!

Jennifer Aniston was spotted in Mexico with director Will Speck. But she’s also with her usual new years’s trip gang (including Jimmy Kimmel and Jason Bateman) so I’m not quite convinced this is a romance.

-I don’t watch Project Runway but this contestant calling out judge Karlie Kloss‘ connection to the Kusher family was glorious. Apparently her subsequent critique of his design was harsher than she’s been in any of the previous 16 episodes.

-On New Year’s Day, a young couple were struggling to take a selfie on a hiking trail in Victoria when someone walked by and asked if they’d like help. That someone was Meghan Markle.

-Also, David Foster and Katherine McPhee helped hook Prince Harry and Meghan up with the $14 million house they stayed in on a secluded waterfront on Vancouver Island over the holidays.

-Page Six is calling out People for their coverage of Michelle Williams and Thomas Kail‘s engagement/pregnancy because the mag failed to mention they were both in serious relationships when they met a few months ago.

Charlize Theron‘s reaction when asked if The Bachelor’s Peter Weber has “slid into her DMs” is hilarious: “No. I don’t even know really what a DM is, let’s be honest. Maybe yes? I don’t think so. No.”

Zoe Kravitz shared pictures from her June wedding in Paris to Karl Glusman, including a shot featuring her Big Little Lies castmates, and a lovely photo of Lisa Bonet, Lenny Kravitz and Jason Momoa watching her walk down a staircase (which would have been even more lovely if Momoa hadn’t been wearing Birkenstocks).

Ansel Elgort‘s hand placement in the photo where he’s lifting up his girlfriend is…something.

-YouTubers Tana Mongeau and Jake Paul are “taking a break” after five months of supposed marriage.

-Outlander is still on? Here’s the season 5 trailer.

Margot Robbie says she used a fake Twitter account to observe how “young millennial conservative girls” operate before shooting Bombshell. I assume every celeb has shadow social media accounts, no?

DaBaby allegedly robbed a promoter of $80 cash, an iPhone 7, and a credit card before pouring apple juice on him. Wow.

-I liked this piece on how Greta Gerwig managed to redeem the character of Amy in Little Women.

-The reviews for Schitt’s Creek season 6 are glowing. I’m still only on season 3 so I have my work cut out for me…

-Killing Eve just got renewed for a fourth season and I kind of wish it hadn’t.

-I don’t know why this months-old photo of Paul Rudd seemed to be all over my Twitter TL today, but I’m not complaining.

-This year’s Coachella lineup is very meh.

-It’s weird that Uncut Gems is still releasing trailers when it’s already out in some cities, but go see it! I dug it.

EW Goes Big for Avengers: Infinity War

ew-avengers-covers

-EW released 15(!) different covers this week for Avengers: Infinity War. I haven’t checked by mail yet but I’m hoping for Evans, will undoubtedly get Thanos. Also, look at Shuri!

-Wait a second… just how many dinosaur skulls does Leonardo DiCaprio own?

-More proof that A-listers need to demand inclusion riders. On A Few Good Men, an executive wanted a sex scene between Tom Cruise and Demi Moore. When Aaron Sorkin refused, the exec responded:  “Well if Tom and Demi aren’t going to sleep together why is Demi’s [character] a woman?”

-Time’s up? A source within the New York Police Department revealed to the Daily Beast that they are close to arresting Harvey Weinstein.

Mae Whitman talking about the Zeek junkyard speech that Craig T. Nelson improvised on Parenthood made me tear up a lil bit.

Olivia Munn says that she is not dating Justin Theroux — or any of her friends’ exes.

-It sucks that people are blaming Ellen Pompeo‘s recently salary bump on two of her Grey’s costars leaving. That’s not how TV works. Trust me, if the show wanted to keep those actors, Disney can afford it.

Lisa Bonet has broken her silence about Bill Cosby – in the most Lisa Bonet-y way possible. “There was no knowledge on my part about his specific actions, but…there was just energy. And that type of sinister, shadow energy cannot be concealed.”

-It’s unusual to get gossip about the usually private Colin Firth, but his wife admitted to an affair when she and Firth were on a break. She is now accusing the man she was with of stalking.

-I don’t get this Bruno Mars debate. The man works his butt off, seems nice and non-problematic, and makes BOPS.

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn went hiking in Malibu this week, leading to this gem of an eyewitness statement: “The other thing that struck me is that they kind of look exactly like each other, which is weird.”

Kristen Wiig has been confirmed as Wonder Woman 2’s villain Cheetah. This is casting I can get behind.

-I really liked this take on Atlanta’s latest episode, especially the part about “Donald Glover‘s star image as a black creative able to balance autonomy and a so-called auteurism with wider recognition.”

-This is my city’s tribute to The Shape of Water. I’m very proud.

-A new Handmaid’s Tale season two trailer has dropped.
