Jennifer Garner Lives Up to Her ‘Queen of Nice’ Title

–Jennifer Garner‘s profile in THR is full of goodness. She talks about a possible Alias revival (“Sign me up. I’ll grab Bradley [Cooper] by the scruff of his neck”), her ex-hubby Ben Affleck (“People are in awe of him. He’s done incredible things, he’s six-four, he’s … him, and [strangers] treat him with a kind of reverence”),  and why she allowed rare photos of their kids at her Walk of Fame ceremony in 2018 (“I don’t have two Oscars on my mantle, I’ve raised them. And I think every little kid has a dream that their mom will have a moment where people applaud her so that they can say, ‘That’s right, I knew it,’ and my kids got to have that and for that I’m grateful”). She also revealed that her daughter Violet was once kicked off a soccer team because the paparazzi caused too much of a distraction.

-41,000 viewers filed complaints to ITV against Piers Morgan over his comments on Meghan Markle‘s mental health​ — and Meghan Markle was one of them.

-Meanwhile, Morgan tweeted, “On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t.”  (Sidenote: I didn’t realize until I saw this clip that his hatred of her seems to stem from the fact that they once went out for drinks and then she ghosted him — which makes him even more pathetic than I realized.)

–CBS will re-air Oprah’s interview with Harry and Meghan on Friday night.

-The people behind Grey’s Anatomy keep making noises about this current season possibly being its last. “I’m planning a season and a finale that could function as either a season finale or a series finale,” showrunner Krista Vernoff told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m planning for both contingencies and it’s hard and it’s not ideal. It’s not where I wish we were.”

–Chloe Sevigny had a secret wedding last year — and she wore black.

–Paris Jackson, 22, defended her relationship with Emile Hirsch, 35, after comments about their age difference. When it comes to Hirsch, his age is the least of my concerns.

–Winston Marshall is taking some time away from Mumford and Sons after praising a right-wing author.

–Justin Bieber calls his latest music video “a love letter to the Toronto Maple Leafs.”

-I don’t watch American Horror Story, but I love that Macaulay Culkin will be in the new season because he deserves all the things.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Set a Date

-Mark your calendars and plan to get up in the middle of the night to watch a fancy wedding: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry on May 19, 2018.

-Why was Tiffany Haddish‘s new book co-written by bro-douche Tucker Max. WHYYYYYYY?????

–Dustin Hoffman has now been accused of exposing himself to teen girls and assaulting more women.

-Meanwhile, the NYPD designated a team within the Special Victims Unit to review sexual misconduct allegations involving famous men that are “coming up almost daily.”

-JFC, can we just cancel Matt Damon already? On the current reckoning currently dismantling Hollywood, he had lots of crappy things to say, including “You know, there’s a difference between, you know, patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation, right?” He also talks about the high “price” Louis CK has paid.  WTF. People much smarter than I am have already outlined why his statements suck so hard, including his ex Minnie Driver, who tweeted “Gosh it’s so *interesting how men with all these opinions about women’s differentiation between sexual misconduct, assault and rape reveal themselves to be utterly tone deaf and as a result, systemically part of the problem (*profoundly unsurprising)”.

-Speaking of problematic statements from actors, Tom Hanks just said “If you threw out every film or TV show that was made by an a–hole, Netflix would go out of business” and tried to argue for the separation of art and artists by saying “Picasso was a womanizer, this is not excusing anybody…I think work does speak for itself, but character does come into the conversation at some point, but I think that lands over time.” Who’s talking about womanizers and a–holes? The conversations is about harassers, assaulters an rapists. Stop conflating them.

–Peter Jackson says the Weinstein brothers orchestrated a smear campaign that led  him to blacklist Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino. Sorvino tweeted: “Just seeing this after I awoke, I burst out crying. There it is, confirmation that Harvey Weinstein derailed my career, something I suspected but was unsure.”

-The NCIS: New Orleans showrunner is still employed by CBS after two HR investigations. Krista Vernoff, the executive producer and showrunner of Grey’s Anatomy, just went on the record about his terrible treatment of her and other women on the set of Charmed.

-Expect The Last Jedi to soar to $200M this weekend. On Friday alone, it’s tipped to earn anywhere from $95-$100M.

-I recently heard that Drake went to a Toronto restaurant and ate in the back room by himself (flanked by security guards) and it made me sad. Much like this photo does.

-But this photo from The Post premiere is wonderful.

-I love that at the welcome party for new Vanity Fair editor Radhika Jones, Anna Wintour gifted everyone with pairs of fox tights.

-PBS is doing a new mini-series based on Little Women and I really need that in my life right now.

–Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky have split after a year of everyone going “really? him?!?”

–Katy Perry and The Weeknd were spotted having dinner together? I can’t keep up with his love life.

-The girl who played Rayanne on My So-Called Life is now an English countess and I can’t tell you how happy this makes me!

-The Mindy Project’s Ike Barinholtz talking about how Mindy Kaling has changed his life is very sweet.

–Sia‘s new holiday music video features Dax Shepard, Kristen Bell, Henry Winkler, and Susan Lucci.

-I had no idea Daniel Dae Kim developed The Good Doctor, which is this season’s biggest TV hit. Ha! CBS must regret letting him go.

-Chicago PD star Jason Beghe’s anger issues reportedly led to Sophia Bush’s exit from the show earlier this year. I wonder if she was talking about him in this interview when she described a costar interrupting her when she was talking to the director about a scene by sticking his hand in her face and saying “No. Stop.”

–Krista Vernoff, the showrunner of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, offered a point by point rebuttal to Brett Ratner’s  assault denial.

-Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szohr wonders if Ed Westwick’s accusers are “stretching the truth.” Insert the ‘oh no baby what is you doing’ gif.

-Now a makeup artist is accusing Jeffrey Tambor of misconduct on the set of the 2001 movie Never Again.

–Russell Simmons, in a statement received by THR, denied those sexual assault allegations, saying “I have made choices that have offended some of the women in my life. It’s not cool to be a playboy and a new consciousness understands this.” Ugh. Offending women and being a playboy is not the same as forcing yourself on them. Stop trying to conflate the two.

–Nick Carter says he’s “shocked and saddened” by allegations of sexual assault by Dream’s Melissa Schuman.

–Rashida Jones is denying reports she left Toy Story 4 over misconduct by John Lasseter. She says she left because of issues pertaining to gender and race inequality at Pixar.

-Meanwhile, multiple outlets have now published reports of Lasseter’s alleged misconduct.

-Justice League is now projected to lose up to $100 million for Warner Bros.

–Chris Hemsworth fights terrorists on horseback in the new 12 Strong trailer.
