Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski Eloped

Thomas Sadoski revealed on James Corden‘s show that he and baby mama Amanda Seyfried eloped last week.

-I have to say, I did not see a Donald Trump/One Direction feud coming.

-This article on how Kate Middleton is “less than pleased” with Prince William’s ski-trip behaviour probably shouldn’t have made me laugh.

-Beauty and the Beast is going to be a beast at the box office this weekend, waltzing to an expected $165M-$170M bow.

-Speaking of Beauty and the Beast, Emma Watson is reportedly pulling in $3M upfront, but her final payday could be $15M if the film’s final haul is similar to Maleficent’s $759M worldwide gross.

-Whatever happens with Brangelina, at least their delicious Miravel rose seems safe for now.

-Is Taylor Swift launching her own version of Spotify?

-Emily Van Camp and Matt Czuchry are going to star in a new Fox medical drama. I like both of those actors separately, but together they make a bland duo of immense blandness.

-Networks are scrambling after nearly all of their mid-season premieres (17 scripted shows launched since Jan. 1), are languishing with low ratings.

-Balmain failed Scarlett Johansson with this terrible dress at the Ghost In The Shell premiere.

-Congrats to Marion Cotillard, who had her second kid.

-Yay! Here’s the first new Feist song in six years!

-I should have known that Black Girl Nerds’ Iron Fist takedown would be my favourite.

Lena Dunham would like everyone to stop talking about her weight please.

Ellen DeGeneres and Kristen Bell dressed up as leprechauns for a festive game of Heads Up.

Katie Cassidy is the latest celebrity to have her nude photos hacked and leaked online. Not cool, pervs.

-Oh, so I guess I’m not watching season 2 of The Crown.

Review returns this week (or Wednesday on Much if you’re in Canada). This is by far one of my favourite comedies airing right now.  It somehow manages to be both hilarious and heartbreaking.

-Here’s the final trailer for The Leftovers. Wait, is Kevin Jesus?!

Jennifer Lawrence Talks Body Image and Pay Gap in Harper’s Bazaar

-I really like Jennifer Lawrence‘s new interview with Harper’s Bazaar, in which she admits she works hard for her “average” body. “Everybody says, ‘We love that there is somebody with a normal body!’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t feel like I have a normal body.’ I do Pilates every day. I eat, but I work out a lot more than a normal person.” She also smartly responds to the controversy over her pay gap comments, saying, “I try not to be too sensitive to the ‘poor rich girl’ jokes. I was saying my reality is absolutely fabulous, but it is not the reality of a lot of women in America.”

-Congrats to Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman for welcoming a baby boy — and for doing it a month ago without anyone finding out. And for giving him a normal name. Really, they’re just winning at life right now.

Melissa McCarthy’s deal to appear on Gilmore Girls just happened to go through the day before her critically panned movie opened. What are the odds?

Kate Hudson talks about deliberately hiding from her children in her new InStyle cover story. Sounds like my kind of parenting.

Jennifer Aniston says she started eating pasta again after meeting Justin Theroux. The rest of her diet sounds super sad, though.

-I’m actually surprised it took this long for Cameron Diaz to be featured in GOOP. She’s talking about the science of humans cells so at least it’s unintentionally hilarious.

-They’re once again trying to do a US remake of Misfits. Why, Hollywood? Whyyyyy???

-I’m really glad Edge of Tomorrow is getting a sequel. That is maybe the most underrated Tom Cruise movie in decades.

-This is the most Nic Cage thing that Nic Cage has ever done.

-If you just got let go from your steady TV gig and are looking for a new job, maybe don’t tweet support for an article that says the show will suck without you. Network execs see that stuff, fool.

-An oral history of Bridget Jones’s Diary from Renée Zellweger, Colin Firth and more? Well, if you insist.

Paul Walker‘s 16-year-old daughter Meadow has received a $10 million settlement from the driver in the fatal crash.

-Brace yourselves for some shocking news: Leonardo DiCaprio is dating another model.

-How did I not know that there’s a movie version coming of The Office UK?

Fall TV Preview: Arrow

Katie Cassidy and Stephen Amell in The CW's Arrow.
Katie Cassidy and Stephen Amell in The CW’s Arrow.

(I’m still up to my eyeballs in TIFF, so regular blogging won’t resume until the end of the week. Be sure to check out @jen_mcdonnell and MSN.ca for all my TIFF updates. In the meantime, my BFF Nicole and I have been IM’ing about the five buzziest fall TV shows. Check out our previous conversations about ElementaryThe Mindy ProjectLast Resort and The New Normal. Today we tackle our final new series: Arrow!)

Premieres: Wed, Oct. 10 @ 8 p.m. on The CW and CTV Two

Up Against: Survivor, Animal Practice, Guys with Kids, X Factor

Premise: After being left for dead on a deserted island for five years, former billionaire bad boy Oliver Queen is rescued. But his time on the island (and a conversation he had with his father as their yacht was sinking), altered his outlook on life. Upon his return to Starling City, he adopts a heroic alterego named Arrow to avenge the wrongs of his family and hunt down those involved in his father’s conspiracy.

Our Take:

Jen: I’m embarrassed to admit I like this because it means I’ll be watching yet another CW show, but I think this one’s going to be a hit.
Nicole: I liked this, too. I think Stephen Amell is great and I like that Katie Cassidy is playing his love interest.
Jen: Yes! Finally, she’s found a show that works for her.
Nicole: It’s an age-appropriate role. Not too old like Melrose Place, not too young like Gossip Girl. I just wish they’d dress her a bit better, but maybe that will improve.
Jen: I know nothing about the comic book this show is based on (Green Arrow), but apparently her character (Lauren Lance) eventually adopts her own heroic alterego called Black Canary.
Nicole: Also, this guy actually kills people!
Jen: Yeah, that’s a different twist. I like the flashbacks to his time on the island, and I really, really like the casting. Susanna Thompson from Once and Again is great as his mom and Willa Holland plays his sister. (Although am I the only one weirded out by their chemistry?)
Nicole: The brother/sister chemistry? Just you, weirdo.
Jen: Ha – figures.
Nicole: I like the family setup, too. Plus, I really cannot get enough of the real-life superhero angle. I think this one will be in my rotation and hopefully given the comic book origins, I can get my boyfriend into it as well.
Jen: For sure. It’s very dude-friendly (even though it’s a CW show). The main character is a Bruce Wayne-like playboy douche by day and a secret hero by night.
Nicole: It’s exactly like Batman – no super powers, just a lot of accessories. No wonder I like the show!
Jen: And no stupid Christian Bale voice. Bonus points for that.
