Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge Covers Vogue

Phoebe Waller-Bridge Vogue
Ethan James Green, Vogue,

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a delight in the new issue of Vogue. In the interview, she talks about cutting abortion law comments from her SNL monologue (“Because if you rant and rave, if you try and make a noise, you’ll be labelled noisy. You have to be careful of that. You have to find ways to protest”), her drink of choice (“The gimlet came into my life about a year and a half ago. I have really always wanted a cocktail that you order with total confidence; you know, that thing that you order and everyone’s like, Holy shit, she knows what she’s doing with her entire life”), and why you stop sharing as much with your friends as you get older (“I think the first half of your life, you’re trying to find out who you are, and you’re kind of knocking yourself against things, and testing things the whole time, to help kind of sculpt yourself. Then later, when you’ve got as close to sculpted as possible, you’re like, Don’t touch anything, in case it changes me”).

-Speaking of good magazine covers, Katie Holmes covers two this month (the December 2019 issues of Elle UK and SHAPE) and she refused to acknowledge the Tom Cruise years — even in style retrospectives.

-This is sad but not surprising: a new Britney Spears documentary features an interview with the salon owner who witnessed her infamous head shaving incident. The owner claims that Spears’s bodyguards were bribed by the paparazzi for her location and to continue to open the blinds of the salon, allowing a photographer hiding in the bushes to snap photos of their charge.

-This interview with TI about how he obsessively monitors the state of his 18-year-old daughter’s hymen is horrific — and really, really medically stupid. (Dr. Jennifer Gunter has a great thread about all the ways TI is wrong.) This doctor should be have his license revoked.

Jenny Slate‘s proposal story is very cute.

Whitney Houston‘s best friend Robyn Crawford wrote a new memoir, in which she talks about how they knew they had to suppress their relationship. “She said we shouldn’t be physical anymore because it would make our journey even more difficult…She said if people find out about us, they would use this against us and back in the ’80s that’s how it felt.”

Jennifer Aniston revealed why she joined social media, saying “People are already in my panty drawers all the time. And I want them out of my panty drawers. But now I can decide which pair to show them.” And here I thought it was because she was contractually obligated to promote her new Apple show.

Drake is reportedly getting close to Kylie Jenner, according to People. (E!News‘ sources say it’s not serious which, yeah, we could have figured that one out on our own.)

Hilarie Burton shared a photo of her wedding day with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, which featured his Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles, who officiated the ceremony.

-ABC is rebooting Revenge (a show I don’t think gets enough love) with a Latinx lead.

-Have some Stranger Things bloopers.

Chris Evans appears in the new episode of Billy on the Street! This is not a drill!

Reese Witherspoon Talks Friendship with Jennifer Aniston

-In the new issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Reese Witherspoon recalls meeting Jennifer Aniston on the set of Friends (where they played sisters). “I was 23 years old and had just had a baby. I was nursing Ava on set, and Jen just kept going, ‘You have a baby?’ I was like, ‘I know, it’s weird.’ And I remember her being like, ‘Where are you going?’ And I was like, ‘I’m pumping!’…She was so sweet to me. I was really nervous, and she was like, ‘Oh, my gosh—don’t worry about it!’ I marveled at her ability to perform in front of a live audience like that with no nerves. They would change all the lines, and she was just so effortlessly affable, bubbly, and sunny. We’ve been friends ever since.”

-There were lots of cast reunions captured on Instagram this weekend, including the Pushing Daisies leads and the Friends crew.

-Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson have been friends for years, but from the looks of it… now they’re friends who smooch.

-After a decade together and two kids, Hilarie Burton and Jeffrey Dean Morgan revealed that they got married over the weekend.

Rihanna followed Canada’s NDP leader Jagmeet Singh on Instagram, which is confusing but kind of cool?

-I gave up on Supergirl a while ago, but are Kara and Lena together?! Like, in canon?? Or have they gone full queer baiting? Cause this seems like a breakup scene straight out fanfic (and I’m into it).

-The Breaking Bad movie hits Netflix on Friday. Here’s a good recap of Jesse-centric episodes to watch in preparation, while The Ringer did a definitive ranking of all episodes.

-Stranger Things’ Joe Keery doesn’t get why everyone freaked out when it looked like he cut his hair. (Sir, your hair is the source of all your power. How do you not know this by now?!)

Sterling K. Brown Got To Finish His Emmy Speech

-It was BS (and incredibly bad optics) to let Nicole Kidman speak forever, but to play Sterling K Brown off in the middle of his Emmy speech. But he finished it backstage and it was glorious.

-Feud’s Jackie Hoffman having a fake meltdown after losing to Laura Dern was my favourite part of the Emmy’s.

-Also, did anyone else notice that when Kidman talked about her kids in her speech, she left out the ones she’d adopted with Tom Cruise? Do you think they’ve cut ties with her completely for being an SP?

-Overall, the Emmy’s were great. When Game of Thrones isn’t allowed to play, you end up with a bunch of diverse winners like Riz Ahmed, Donald Glover, and Lena Waithe making history, Hulu breaking through big time, and female-focused fare taking the lead. (That Sean Spicer appearance was total crap, though.)

-This photo of Elisabeth Moss celebrating with Jon Hamm makes me happy.

-I was so annoyed by Shailene Woodley‘s tone-deaf quotes on the red carpet. Maybe don’t slam TV at an event celebrating TV, mm-kay?

-The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan and One Tree Hill’s Hilarie Burton confirmed they are expecting baby No. 2 with some red carpet belly cupping.  I always forget those two are together, but I dig it.

Milo Ventimiglia took his rumoured new girlfriend (a marketing coordinator for Stella McCartney) as his Emmys date.

Ben Affleck plus-one’d it last night.

-It was a tumultuous weekend on social media for Kevin Hart. He admitted to cheating on his pregnant wife, posting an emotional video apologizing to his wife and kids following an alleged extortion attempt by the woman he hooked up with.

-Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri got a major boost for its Oscar prospects on Sunday by winning TIFF’s People’s Choice Award. I voted for it. (I will say it’s weird that no one seems to be talking about the fact that the TIFF app — which is where you vote — did not list Call Me By Your Names as an option. It was clearly a bug, but I bet the results would have been different if the app worked.)

-Here’s our first look at David Tennant and Michael Sheen in Good Omens, Amazon’s Neil Gaiman series. I can’t wait!

-Audiences hate Jennifer Lawrence‘s ‘Mother!’, giving it a CinemaScore of F. Do you know how hard it is to get a score that low?!

Leah Remini says Jada Pinkett Smith is secretly a Scientologist and that Tom Cruise likes to host adult games of hide and seek.  Sounds totally normal…

Kelly Clarkson is so not a fan of Dr. Luke that she turned down potential millions in royalties just they wouldn’t share a writing credit. Bless her.

-Wait wait wait — there’s a tribute album for Tegan & Sara‘s The Con? And CHVRCHES does a cover of “Call It Off”? Just take my money now.

-I don’t watch horror movies but this trailer really builds.

-Speaking of trailers, I’m not sure if I can handle a new Blake Lively one on a Monday. Knock yourself out, though:
