Ansel Elgort: Wallet Saviour

-If you had to pick a celebrity to find your missing wallet, it turns out you could do a lot worse than Ansel Elgort.

Camila Cabello is shutting down pregnancy rumours after she posted a belly-cupping photo.

Jerry Seinfeld‘s comments on on Louis C.K.‘s controversial return to stand-up are predictably terrible: “We, the court of public opinion, decided if he’s going to come back, he’d better show a lot of pain…We love the crawl-back. The grovel. Are you going to grovel? How long are you going to grovel? Are you going to cry? People, I think, figured they had that coming with Louis — he owes us that. We, the court of public opinion, decided if he’s going to come back, he’d better show a lot of pain. Because he denied them that.” Nobody decided that he should show a lot of pain. But it would have been nice if he had actually did what he said he was going to do in his apology, which was to take time away to listen and learn.

-If Meghan Markle’s bird dress didn’t have that figure skating netting at the top, I’d love this look.

Cardi B says she turned down a seven-figure offer to release images of her baby girl Kulture.

-The Timeless two-hour wrap-up movie has announced its air date.

-Game of Thrones’ stars Maisie Williams and Richard Madden reunited and got cuddly. Kit Harington also showed up.

-This interview with Tyne Daly on her latest movie is a gem. “The last film I did was ‘Spider-Man Homecoming.’ I was sworn to secrecy because it’s a [air quotes] ‘big deal.’ There’s this lovely kid, Tom Holland, in a full-body condom that he couldn’t pee in all day. A film like this is my antidote.”

-Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star Rachel Bloom explains dating slang for Vanity Fair.

-Fox just ordered a new animated show produced by Amy Poehler, who will also voice some characters, along with Parks and Rec costar Rashida Jones.

-This bums me out: American Vandal has been canceled by Netflix, who clearly only want to have shows that they own. (Their recent cancellations have all come from other studios – Iron Fist, Luke Cage and All About The Washingtons are owned by ABC Studios, while American Vandal is owned by CBS.) Knowing that they’re about to lose all their Disney/Star Wars content and possibly Friends probably has them freaked out about non-owned shows.

-Meanwhile, this is a really interesting read on how Netflix and the streaming wars are creating massive income inequality for those who work in the entertainment industry.

Hugh Jackman depicts American Senator Gary Hart’s presidential campaign in the new trailer for The Front Runner.

Oprah Interviews Julia Roberts For Harper’s Bazaar

julia-roberts-oprah-harpers-bazaar

-In the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Oprah chats with Julia Roberts, who talks about her kids coming to the realization that she’s not your average mom (‘Are you more famous than Taylor Swift?’), grapples with her feelings about Instagram (“One weekend morning [my niece] Emma [Roberts] slept over, and we got up and were having tea and playing cards and having this beautiful morning, and then a couple of days later she posted a picture of us. And the number of people who felt absolutely required to talk about how terrible I looked in the picture — that I’m not aging well, that I look like a man, why would she even post a picture like this when I look that terrible! And I was amazed at how that made me feel”), and reveals how she celebrated her 50th with her husband (“I said, ‘How about this? We have five days away with zero contact with the outside world.’ That was 50, and it was so beautiful and wonderful. It was just the two of us, and there was a point where I thought, ‘Gosh, this is kind of weird.'”).

George Clooney presented an award to Emma Gonzalez at Variety’s Power of Women ceremony, saying “These are trying times, and trying times create inspirational leaders.” (Also, bless him for introducing himself as “Amal Clooney’s husband”.)

-There were lots of great speeches at the ceremony. Natalie Portman outlined what women in Hollywood can do: “Gossip well. Stop the rhetoric that a woman is crazy or difficult. If a man says to you that a woman is crazy or difficult, ask him: what bad thing did you do to her?” Tiffany Haddish advised to “be yourself and don’t try to be something that you’re not, because that’s when you become a bitter-ass bitch.”

Princess Eugenie got married today and her open-back wedding dress was lovely, but Cara Delevingne stole the show by showing up in a top hat and tails.

Neil Patrick Harris was on The View this week and had a very strange exchange with Whoopi Goldberg about sex. You ok, Doogie?

-This review of the soundtrack to A Star Is Born by someone who hasn’t seen the movie yet made me laugh out loud repeatedly. There were so many good bits, but this might be my fave: “This track was when I fully realized that, to borrow parlance from Vulture associate editor and top-five favorite Twitter user Hunter Harris, I wanted Bradley Cooper to [redacted] me by the [redacted] and [redacted] my [redacted] until we [redacted] at the same time because it seems like that would be possible with him.”

Ryan Adams has apologized for those butthurt tweets about Mandy Moore. “I apologize for my remarks. I was trying to be funny. But I have and will always choose to remember the amazing moments.”

-This is an interesting look at exactly how many men’s lives have been “ruined” since #MeToo started a year ago this week. (Spoiler alert: not many.)

Hugh Jackman‘s tweets about turning 50 are predictably charming.

Shiri Appleby is out here reuniting with all her old costars. Last week it was her Life Unexpected crew, this week Roswell.

-Marvel has fired Chuck Wendig and I don’t really know a lot about the comics world but my Twitter feed is NOT HAVING IT.

-Is new show FBI seriously on its third showrunner already? It’s only aired three episodes!

-Terrible: a crewmember on Sony’s Mr. Rogers pic died after a fall on set.

-This Johnny Depp press tour continues to be horrible. He’s not going to have any axes left to grind after this…

Chris Hemsworth talks about being uneasy with his wealth in the new issue of GQ: “I feel gross about it. I remember saving up for a surfboard when I was younger. The surfboard was 600 bucks and I saved up for a whole year with Dad’s help. I didn’t even want to surf on it for fear of damaging it. It taught me so many lessons about appreciation and working hard for something. When I think about my kids, I don’t want them to miss that joy. Elsa and I talk a lot about how we instill that same appreciation and respect for things.”

Usher dropped a surprise album this morning.

Jaboukie Young-White‘s debut on The Daily Show was very, very good.

-I’m bummed that All American tanked in the ratings. On the plus side, it’s on the CW and they don’t seem to care about pesky little details like that…

-Here’s the first Aladdin teaser. I was hoping for a glimpse of Will Smith as the genie, but at least we get confirmation that Mena Massoud‘s Aladdin is hot.

Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis and James McAvoy complete M. Night Shyamalan‘s trilogy more than 18 years in the making in the new Glass trailer.

Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell go head-to-head in the trailer for The Best of Enemies, which depicts the real-life feud and subsequent friendship between civil rights activist Ann Atwater and former Ku Klux Klan leader C.P. Ellis.

Gillian Anderson Debuts New Look, New Line

Gillian Anderson for Winser London

Gillian Anderson teamed up with Winser London for a new collection  and this look is a MOOD. Talk about BDE.

Ruth Wilson continues to be cryptic about her exit from The Affair, but promises there’s “a much bigger story” behind it. “It isn’t about pay parity, and it wasn’t about other jobs…But I’m not really allowed to talk about it.” I’m so curious!!

-In other news, she’s reportedly returning to the new season of Luther? YES!! I don’t even know how that’s possible storywise, and I don’t care.

-Wow, critics are LOVING First Man starring Ryan Gosling, which just opened in Venice.

-Venice is always known for grand entrances, but Lady Gaga’s takes the cake.

-I was really hoping Prince Harry would continue the song at a performance of Hamilton last night, but he only attempted the opening line.

Michael B Jordan challenged Will Smith to a cook off — and Gordon Ramsey offered to judge.

Emmy Rossum has hinted that she’s leaving Shameless in an emotional Facebook post to her fans. “I know you will continue on without me, for now. There is much more Gallagher story to be told. I will always be rooting for my family. Try not to think of me as gone, just think of me as moving down the block.” I know Showtime is known for beating dead horses, but the show should really end now.

-I’m soo curious why HBO made Tom & Lorenzo take down their series on Sharp Objects’s fashion because of “how much they were giving away.” The show is over. It’s based on a book. If people wanted to be spoiled, there are better ways than an article on its wardrobe.

-If Drake and Kanye West are going to continue this feud, they’re going to have to do more than talk in emojis for me to care.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is teasing Jaime’s relationship with Brienne in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones and this is really all I want to watch now.

-I’m glad I’m not the only one who was confused by TATBILB’s magical nightgown. (How did it not billow up in the hot tub?)

-Meanwhile, it’s weird af that people are shipping Lana Condor and Noah Centineo IRL. I mean, I get it because they have crazy chemistry, but it’s still weird. I’m glad the actors don’t seem too freaked out by it.

-Oh man, Mo Ryan gets INTO IT in her Hollywood Reporter column on Louis C.K.‘s set: “He controlled, in a monstrous way, the manner of his professional return — and then he used the word ‘rape’ in his set. For laughs. For a ‘joke’ about how rape whistles are ‘unclean.’ What the fuck? What the FUCK? He’s not done narcissistically inflicting pain on unsuspecting people. This past week proves that beyond a doubt…He didn’t take even one step down the road to a new chapter. Instead, he twisted the knife. He told a joke about rape whistles. He actually invoked sexual violence in that set.”

Roxanne Gay also wrote an excellent piece on it for the New York Times:  “We spend so little energy thinking about justice for victims and so much energy thinking about the men who perpetrate sexual harassment and violence. We worry about what will become of them in the wake of their mistakes. We don’t worry as much about those who have suffered at their hands.”

-In the first trailer for Jason Reitman’s The Front Runner, Hugh Jackman plays Gary Hart, a politician whose White House potential was derailed by an affair.

-I’m intrigued for the trailer for I Think We’re Alone Now, Reed Morano’s film starring Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning.
