Demi Lovato Is Engaged

-Congrats to Demi Lovato and soap star Max Ehrich, who are engaged after four months of dating. Man, emerald cut diamonds are everywhere now, huh?

-We all assumed One Direction’s 10-year anniversary would be today’s biggest music news. But then Taylor Swift unexpectedly announced she will be dropping her eighth studio album, titled folklore, tonight at midnight.

-Interestingly, Kanye West is supposed to be dropping his new album, Donda, at the same time. I’m sure that’s a complete coincidence.

-This is an interesting thread on how a surprise album has let Taylor escape the singles release structure, which frankly, has caused her issues for the past few releases. My least fave songs for her last two albums were the ones she released first.

–Britney Spears‘ brother Byran laughed off rumours she’s being held captive and said of her conservatorship “Obviously there was a need for it in the beginning…It’s been a great thing for our family and we keep hoping for the best.” He added “She’s always wanted to get out of it. It’s very frustrating to have. Whether someone’s coming in peace to help or coming in with an attitude, having someone constantly tell you to do something has got to be frustrating.”

–Megan Fox gushed about her relationship with Machine Gun Kelly when they appeared together on the Give Them Lala…With Randall podcast. “The second that I was in a room with him and said hello to him and looked into his eyes, I knew right away that he was what I call a twin flame. We’re actually two halves of the same soul I think. I said that to him almost immediately. I felt it right away.”

–Martha Stewart expertly shading Chelsea Handler is what I needed today.

–Eminem is reportedly terrified of what Mariah Carey might reveal in her new memoir about the time they dated. I forgot about that! A source tells Us Weekly: “Marshall is stressed out that Mariah is going to say s–t that he was bad in bed or a selfish lover because he has always been very insecure about that. She knows that.”

-The Johnny Depp libel trial continues. Amber Heard has been on the stand the past few days, and has accused him of headbutting her the night before she appeared on James Corden’s show, trying to throw her sister down a set of stairs, and going on a 36-hour cocaine and whiskey binge.

–Taraji P. Henson might get her own Empire spinoff at Fox.

–Chris D’Elia‘s prank show for Netflix has been scrapped after those allegations of inappropriateness with fans.

-I didn’t even like The Kissing Booth and I’m still going to watch the crap out of the sequel because that’s where quarantine has me these days.

-Amazon on Thursday released the first trailer for Gillian Flynn’s forthcoming apocalyptic thriller Utopia, starring John Cusack, Rainn Wilson and Sasha Lane. This was first announced back in 2014 so I had assumed it wasn’t going forward.

–Bill and Ted 3 has moved to a September theatre release, with a simultaneous video on demand release. For a movie of this size, this makes the most sense. Open in other countries, and in North America on mostly VOD to take advantage of all the marketing already done.

–Justin Bieber got all chesty on the cover of Men’s Health. There’s already a Photoshop controversy about it ’cause fair play.

–Shia LaBeouf’s tweets continue to make about as much sense as his art.

-Can it be considered a Buffy reunion if Seth Green and Michelle Trachtenberg weren’t actually on Buffy at the same time? Whatevs, I’ll take what I can get.

–Zoe Kravitz faced off against Jimmy Fallon in a giant game of beer pong last night.  It comforts me that even she can’t pull off those shorts.

–Purity Ring crushed it on Late Night with Seth Meyers last night. I just realized they’re Canadian and now I love them even more.

-Also, once Seth Meyers explains a slang word, we must all stop using it. Bye-bye “buh damn.” I hardly used ye.

-This is the most Bill Murray-ist of all Bill Murray stories.

-Yesterday, Jared Leto tweeted a photo that made him look so young, it could have been taken from his My So-Called Life days. What a difference 24 hours makes.

–Raven Symone and Kim Kardashian also went platinum blonde. What can it all mean, guys?

-The trailer for Dark Places, Gillian Flynn‘s latest book-to-movie adaptation starring Charlize Theron, is here and it’s a nail-biter. (It has French subtitles because it opens in France next month, but is still waiting for a North American release date.)
