Megan Thee Stallion Says Tory Lanez Shot Her

-On a new IG live, Megan Thee Stallion confirmed that Tory Lanez shot her. “You shot me. And you got your publicists and your people going to these blogs and lying and shit. Stop lying. Why lie? I don’t understand. I tried to keep the situation off the internet, but you dragging it.”

-Meanwhile, JoJo removed Lanez from the upcoming deluxe edition of her album Good to Know.

Her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, was sentenced to five months in prison, two years of supervised release, 250 hours of community service and a $250,000 fine.

-Congrats to Rachel McAdams, who is pregnant with her second child.

-The first reviews for Tenet are very positive (though critics keep using words like “confounding” and “head-scratching”). I like this piece from a critic on the struggles of covering a movie that’s trying to get people back in theaters in the U.S. during a pandemic when health experts say it’s the last place to be.

BTS has made history with their new video “Dynamite,” which dropped at midnight and surpassed 10 million views on Youtube in just 20 minutes.

-Golden State Killer James DeAngelo sentenced to life in prison. I just finished HBO’s documentary series I’ll Be Gone in the Dark and I wish Michelle McNamara was alive to see this day. Her widow, Patton Oswalt, tweeted “The insect gets none of my headspace today. I’m thinking of the victims, and the survivors, and the witnesses and crusaders and investigators. And of course Michelle. Go forward in peace, all of you.”

-The X-Files cast reunited for a charity music video and it’s delightful how many one-off guest stars they pulled in.

Aniston posted a cute video of getting her butt handed to her at pool by Courteney Cox.

Jake Johnson says there’s a chance of a New Girl reunion and I’m here for it.

-Cuties, a Sundance favourite that is now on Netflix, is from a French Senegalese Black woman who is pulls from her own experiences as an immigrant and condemns the hyper-sexualization of preadolescent girls. However, the way Netflix marketed the movie (with a risqué poster and description) has led to calls for a boycott of the film. Netflix has since apologized, and people like Tessa Thompson are standing up for the movie, but it looks like the damage is done.

Taylor Swift started a frenzy at a multitude of indie record stores across America when shipments of signed Folklore CDs “just showed up” on their doorsteps. “Phones rang off the hook in every store. Folks took road trips to try to get one.”

-WarnerMedia has reportedly launched an investigation into the production of Justice League based on Ray Fisher‘s allegations of misconduct against Joss Whedon.

Pharrell Williams dropped a new video for “Entrepreneur ft. Jay Z”. That line where Jay criticizes Black Twitter can go though.

-Also, Jay Z was spotted hanging out with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey in the Hamptons yesterday.

Netflix has cancelled The Society and I’m Not Ok With This due to covid-related issues.

Chi Chi DeVayne, who was a fan favorite on RuPaul’s Drag Race and Drag Race All Stars, has died. The performer was recently hospitalized for the second time in as many months after being diagnosed with pneumonia.

-I like this piece on how cancel culture, for lack of a better term, is good. I think there increasingly has to be distinctions made between celebrities who face consequences for doing and saying bad things, and normal people who get fired for viral videos, but when it comes to Hollywood, yeah I think this take is about right.

-Speaking of good takes, I like this one about what the Ana de Armas Updates account tells us about modern fandom.

Diane Lane and Kevin Costner reunite for the Let Him Go trailer, playing a couple trying to get their grandson away from his abusive stepdad. Lesley Manville steals this trailer.

Zendaya Talks Fame and Fashion

Zendaya Allure cover

Zendaya looks amazing per usual on the cover of Allure, where she talks about acting vs making music (“There’s a layer of personal life that I think actors get that music artists don’t. They have no character to hide behind, so they have to be very open. [As actors] we get a little bit of a separation”) and why she stipulated that her Tommy Hillfiger collaboration come in plus sizes (“That was my thing — I’m not going to make clothes my sister or my niece or any of the women in my family can’t wear. A lot of the clothes were for tall people too. For my mom, this is the first time that she can wear pants and not get them altered — she’s six feet four”).

Harry Styles talks about doing mushrooms while recording his new album. “I think part of the thing with the mushrooms thing for me is that I never do anything when I’m working, and I don’t even drink when I’m working, if I’m touring or anything. I don’t drink really at all. When I was in [One Direction], it was like, to me, it felt like it was so much bigger than any of us that I kind of felt like, ‘I’m not going to be the one who f**ks it up.'”

Chris Evans says that starring in giant blockbusters hasn’t stopped him from sharing his political views on Twitter. “I did it during Cap, too; it wasn’t like I waited until that run was over. I was doing it while we were filming those movies…I’ve never felt limited or handcuffed by the roles I play or the studios I worked for. I never in my life had a studio tell me to watch what I’m saying.”

Elsa Pataky is defending brother-in-law Liam Hemsworth following his split from Miley Cyrus: “After a relationship that you’ve dedicated ten years to, he’s a little bit down, but he’s coping well. He’s a strong boy and he deserves the best, I think he deserves much better.”

-On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Billie Eilish spoke to kids about their dreams and got freaked out when a little boy told her that he dreams about Pennywise — who was in the room with them at that moment.

-Here’s the first trailer for Antebellum starring Janelle Monáe. Oh hells no.

Zoe Kravitz Recreates Her Mom’s Iconic Nude Pose

Zoe Kravitz Naked Rolling Stone Cover

Zoe Kravitz recreated her mother’s famous nude pose 30 years later on the cover of Rolling Stone. In the interview, she reveals she’s engaged to actor Karl Glusman, talks about working with a director who made her “uncomfortable,” and remembers how growing up in Lenny Kravitz‘s house meant she’d wake up to Ashton Kutcher making omelets in their kitchen and Nicole Kidman wanting to take her to the movies.

Busy Phillips’ talk show debuted last night, and she got Mindy Kaling to admit she was texting Oprah during labour.

Justin Bieber‘s burrito photo was a hoax? Ya don’t say!

Diane Lane accidentally calling the Bechdel Test the “rectal” test is a beautiful thing.

Colton Haynes filed for divorce from his new husband in May, but last week he posted about celebrating their first anniversary, so they’ve clearly reconciled. I’m so glad for him; I’m weirdly invested in this kid’s happiness.

-I am way, way too wimpy to watch horror, but I was sick this weekend and got totally sucked into Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House. The family drama is hard to resist. Someone described it as “This Is Us with jump scares” which is pretty damn accurate. And it’s shockingly well-made. Episode six is basically two 20-minute one shots that are breathtaking.

-The Heathers show is truly cursed.

50 Cent bought a bunch of seats to a Ja Rule concert — just so they would be empty. I aspire to this level of pettiness.

-Another great #MeToo expose by Amy Kaufman, this one about an actress who was assaulted this year and did all the right things when it came to reporting it – but nothing happened.

Nicki Minaj is denying claims that she leaked Cardi B’s phone number.

-Meanwhile, Cardi B went on a rant about trolls in her comments: “If you’re under comments talking sh*t, y’all need to motherf*cking cut your veins.”

Darren Criss and Lea Michele singing “Shallow” really hit me in the feels.

-In case you need a reminder, this thread recaps why Chris Pratt should not be anyone’s top Chris.

-The red band trailer for Nobody’s Fool made me laugh. I don’t care. I need this.
