Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Getting Divorced, Says Page Six

-Welp. According to Page Six, it’s splitsville for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. If true, I wonder why they didn’t try to slide this news under the cover of holiday madness last week?

Emma Stone confirmed what we’ve known for months: she’s expecting her first child.

-I didn’t even know there was a rumour about Zoë Kravitz dating Channing Tatum, but they’re already denying it.

-The Alexander Wang assault allegations don’t seem to be going away, despite his vehement denial and the near-total silence from the fashion industry.

-The Grammy Awards will no longer be held this month and have been postponed as COVID-19 cases surge in Los Angeles. Organizers are hoping to hold it in March, but that seems wildly optimistic.

Arnold Schwarzenegger accidentally referred to son-in-law Chris Pratt as Chris Evans on Instagram, which is a belated xmas gift to all of us.

-In a new interview, Patty Jenkins details her “internal war” with Warner Bros. over the first Wonder Woman movie. “Everybody in the industry wanted to hire me. But I felt like they wanted to hire me like a beard; they wanted me to walk around on set being a woman director, but it was their story and their vision.”

-Meanwhile, this is a very good piece on how the second Wonder Woman is supposed to be for women, but still isn’t about women.

-The Bean Dad apologized. It’s not bad, in spite of the “let themselves be triggered” nonsense.

Meghan McCain returned to The View after her mat leave, and Joy Behar did not mince words about her feelings on the return. “I did not miss you. Zero.”

-Following a day of conflicting information about the status of her health, actress Tanya Roberts has died at the age of 65. She passed away last night at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA.

-This Is Us’ producers are blaming covid for a scene in which a teen took a pregnancy test with what was clearly an ovulation test.

Steven Soderbergh released his annual list of every piece of pop culture he consumed in 2020, and once again I feel like a luddite.

-Mr. Bean star Rowan Atkinson was trending earlier because he weighed in on “cancel culture” in a new interview, saying “It’s important that we’re exposed to a wide spectrum of opinion, but what we have now is the digital equivalent of the medieval mob roaming the streets looking for someone to burn.” I’m raising my eyebrows more about the part where he talks about “the weight of responsibility” of playing Mr Bean.

Cardi B defended turning off “WAP” when her 2-year-old daughter enters the room. “I’m not [JoJo Siwa]! I don’t make music for kids I make music for adults.”

Maria Bakalova, the Bulgarian star of Borat 2, says she’s kept in touch with the film’s 62-year-old babysitter. “Jeanise is a true angel. I will probably always think of her as my godmother, a real hero and life coach. We had a real human connection from the very first day we met. I called her on Thanksgiving. It was my first American Thanksgiving and was also my best. I was so happy to talk to her that I started to cry. When we were shooting, it was very hard for me, because I wanted to tell her not to worry about me.”

-Rumour has it that Jodie Whittaker will be leaving Doctor Who soon.

-The Dexter revival has tapped Clancy Brown as its big bad. I just saw him in Promising Young Woman (which we all must watch and talk about because I can’t stop thinking about it.)

Jared Padalecki in Men’s Health is, um, surprising.

Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor star in Locked Down, the first romantic comedy set during the pandemic — and it looks surprisingly good? Instead of the endless Zoom calls that have plagued most quar projects, these guys are planning a diamond heist. And good news for Canadians: it drops on Crave the same day it arrives on HBO Max – next Thursday.

Anna Camp and Skylar Astin’s Pitch Perfect Wedding

-Awww! Pitch Perfect costars Anna Camp and Skylar Astin got married this weekend. Guests included PP alums Elizabeth Banks, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson.

-Sadness: Alexis Arquette has died at 47. The family issued a statement today.

-I saw Nocturnal Animals last night and Michael Shannon stole the movie. Apparently, he also stole the afterparty.

-Speaking of afterparties, Anne Hathaway kind of won me over by changing into overalls and dancing barefoot on a couch at the Colossal one. And I actually saw her eat food. No one eats at these things! (I mean, I do…but I don’t count). Also, her movie is awesome but basically unmarketable.

-I also saw Shia LaBeouf‘s new movie (and liked it — gasp!) but he didn’t attend the screening. He was scheduled to, but then his crazy interview in Variety was published last week where he made a bunch of incendiary remarks (including trashing Steven Spielberg), and suddenly he was reportedly no longer invited.

-Speaking of TIFF, everyone was looking at Nate Parker‘s behaviour this weekend to see if he could appropriately address the controversy and get Birth of a Nation back on the Oscar track. He failed miserably. I don’t think the crowd’s response to the movie matters at this point (because TIFF audiences love everything). That movie is torpedoed.

Gabrielle Union, however, is trying her best to save it.

Amy Poehler notably won her first Emmy this weekend!

-Meanwhile, Tom Hiddleston is expecting to win an Emmy next weekend. I mean, Night Of was really, really good but this just seems cocky.

Celine Dion gave Missy Elliott and Britney Spears‘ songs a soulful twist on Ellen.

Solange Knowles went to a Kraftwork concert and did not have much fun.

Cate Blanchett, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kit Harrington and more address the refugee crisis in a powerful new video.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner Announce Split

-Well, there goes the only reason I ever kind of liked Ben Affleck: he and Jennifer Garner officially announced their split. The exclusive came from People (of course it did; they worked really hard for it, after all) and it comes ONE DAY after their 10th anniversary.  The timing of this matters: under California divorce law, once you hit the 10-year mark, alimony becomes a much bigger deal. So the question is: did they officially split today (which means he let her reach the magic number 10, which might be the most honourable thing he’s done for her in a while), or did they split earlier and just announced it today to make him look better (which is going to be a PR nightmare if it comes out)?  And why didn’t they wait until the end of the week to announce? A US long weekend is a media dead zone. So. Many. Questions.

-Meanwhile, I’m so here for Jen‘s post-divorce career comeback. I’m thinking a prestige TV series? Maybe HBO or Netflix? I’m flexible.

-Think dating is hard? Try adding time travel like Amy Schumer does in her latest sketch.

Taylor Kitsch talked about being naked on True Detective. Sigh. Please stop making it so hard to quit that show, Taylor.

-Speaking of FNL alums, Minka Kelly was spotted on a “first date” with Sean Penn at French Laundry. Dammit, French Laundry was on my bucket list and now it’s ruined. RUINED!

-I need to calm down. Luckily, I can stare at these adorable outtakes from Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny’s EW shoot until I’m out of v-fib.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were spotted at a London recording studio with Chris Martin.  Either he’s helping them score their next movie, or my dreams about the ultimate Spice Girls cover band are inching closer to reality.

-Everyone’s assuming Britney Spears is throwing shade at Iggy Azalea with this tweet. We can only hope.

Stephen Colbert just did 20 “no hands” push ups after John Oliver tagged him in a #GiveThem20 post.

-I don’t watch Castle, but lots of people are thinking this blind item has something to do with whispers of discord between Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic. I really hope that’s not true; I love him and I have zero sympathy for well-paid actors who mess up their shows because they can’t keep it professional. We’ve all had coworkers we don’t like. (I’m looking at you, guy who keeps stealing my Coke Zeroes from the office fridge…)

-Just in case you need a good cry, here’s comedians getting emotional in the trailer for the I Am Chris Farley doc.

-Sigh. Game of Thrones won’t have any female directors next season. On the plus side, Transparent’s will have only one cis male director.

-I was kind of holding my breath while waiting for the Magic Mike XXL reviews to land. I loved it but could easily see critics turning on it, so it’s great to see that the heavy hitters liked it.  I especially like how Vox’s review points out how slyly feminist and sex-positive it is. (There’s an early scene in a gay club and I spent the whole time clenched and waiting for one of the queens to become the butt of a joke, and it thankfully never happened.)

-Meanwhile, you can now listen to Matt Bomer’s D’Angelo cover from the soundtrack.

-Congrats to Evangeline Lilly, who is expecting baby #2.

-Here’s a list of all the ridiculous celebrities who don’t believe in vaccines because they’re ridiculous.

-Here’s the trailer for Secret In Their Eyes starring Julia Roberts, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Nicole Kidman. Looks like we’ve got another annoying Julia Oscar appearance in our near future…
