Cardi B Covers Harper’s Bazaar

Cardi B Offset Harpers Bazaar

–Cardi B is coming in hot with her Harper’s Bazaar photo spread, which is by far the best editorial of the year so far. (I love that she got in a fight with Nicki Minaj at Harper’s Fashion Week party, and not only did she still land their cover, the photos actually reference it.) In the interview, she talks about working on her marriage to Offset (“Nobody makes my decisions about my life but me. I didn’t want to go to marriage counseling. He suggested it, but it’s like, ‘I don’t want to go.’ There’s no counselor or nothing that could make me change my mind”), postpartum depression (“When I gave birth, the doctor told me about postpartum, and I was like, ‘Well, I’m doing good right now, I don’t think that’s going to happen.’ But out of nowhere, the world was heavy on my shoulders”), and re-prioritizing (“Now I don’t feel like I have the time to please people. I don’t care about anything anymore—just my career and my kid. Well, I care about my career because of my money”).

–Ellen Page going after Chris Pratt is a mood! (At what point can we just drop Pratt from all those “who’s the best Chris” discussions? Messina is ready to swap in!)

-Congrats to Vampire Diaries star Paul Wesley, who got married.

-Man, EW’s romcom issue is just the gift that keeps on giving. Today they posted a piece with Katherine Heigl, James Marsden, Malin Akerman, and Ed Burns reminiscing about 27 Dresses (a film that holds up surprisingly well).

–Ariana Grande had a busy day! She just dropped a new (possibly queerbaiting?) music video, and a new album that’s getting rave reviews.

-The Grammys are gonna be a mess. Not only is Ariana bailing, Drake, Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar all declined invitations to perform too.

–Danai Gurira is leaving The Walking Dead. She’s the only good thing the show still has going for it and if AMC didn’t feel the need to throw bags of money her way to make her stay, it’s their loss.

-Meanwhile, Norman Reedus may not be working with Andrew Lincoln any more, but he hasn’t stopped pranking him.

-There’s a new Soderbergh movie on Netflix today starring André Holland and Zazie Beetz called High Flying Bird, and critics really dig it.

-Leaving Neverland, that Michael Jackson documentary that had Sundance buzzing, is coming to HBO in March.

-In other HBO news, Barry and Veep will premiere in March, while Big Little Lies’ second season is landing in June.

–Miley Cyrus is now officially going by Miley Hemsworth.

–Juliett Binoche‘s comments on Harvey Weinstein are super disappointing. Goddammit, I just sat through Let The Sunshine In for her!

-Ugh, Casey Affleck exhausts me.

-Former CW lead Chad Michael Murray playing a supporting character on Riverdale really is karma at work.

-Good on Jeff Bezos (words I never thought I’d say) for exposing the National Enquirer’s attempts to blackmail him using nude photos, but female celebrities did it first.

–Samuel L. Jackson and Jessie Usher make a badass father and son pair in the Shaft reboot.

Lindsay Lohan Got Punched In The Face

-On Saturday night, Lindsay Lohan livestreamed a fight she had with a homeless family, yelling that they were trafficking children. It ended with her getting punched in the face.

–Noah Centineo has been cast in Elizabeth Banks‘ Charlie’s Angels reboot starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska. This feels like a great career move on his part.

–Jake Gyllenhaal wrote about buddy Ryan Reynolds in Variety: “After years of waiting and struggling to fit his unfortunate, pear-shaped physique into the skinny jeans of a conventional romantic lead, Ryan made his own luck with Deadpool.”

-Some believe think Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin are expecting. Or maybe his dad is just really bad at captions.

–Demi Lovato’s sister says the singer is “doing really well,” adding “She’s working really hard on her sobriety and we’re all so incredibly proud of her. It’s been crazy for our family. It’s been a lot.”

-On Seth Meyers’ show, Kenan Thompson talked about on Kanye West’s SNL rant: “He voiced his opinion very loudly for a long time…We’re all entitled to our own opinion — I don’t know if that’s the moment, necessarily to hold people hostage like that — but hey, you know!”

-This is a good look from The Ringer about how Kanye West fell so far so fast.

–Aubrey Plaza hugged the statue of Jeff Goldblum while security reprimanded her and I’ve never related to another human more.

-This is very sweet: Taylor Swift gave an 8-year-old fan with autism $10,000 for a service dog and front row tickets to her show.

–Louis C.K. performed at the Comedy Cellar again. Blergh.

-There are rumours that Game of Throne’s Pedro Pascal been cast in the live action Star Wars TV series, which makes a lot of sense.

-A new study finds that more than half of The Last Jedi backlash was amplified by Russian trolls, which also makes a lot of sense.

-Novelist and essayist Zadie Smith and filmmaker Claire Denis tried to collaborate on the script for Denis’s new movie, High Life, but it didn’t go over so well. “We were so opposed on every idea,” said Denis. “There was not a word we could share.” (Judging from the reaction that movie got at TIFF, maybe Smith was smart to bail.)

-There’s no way Drew Barrymore agreed to this interview in Egypt Air’s in-flight magazine. No way.

-I feel like a big trend for returning shows this season is putting their lead character in jail. First we got the Arrow preview, and now here’s the Crazy Ex Girlfriend preview.

-I love when casts from long-departed shows still hang out. Shiri Appleby and the Life Unexpected crew went camping.

–Brad Kern, the CBS producer who was the subject of three investigations into allegations of abuse and harassment, has been fired from NCIS: New Orleans and let go of his network deal. His contract was terminated yesterday. (I actually didn’t think this was going to happen. Mo Ryan reported way back in December that he had been the subject of two different CBS HR investigations, and CBS still gave him a new two-year deal a few months later.)

–Childish Gambino, Justin Timberlake, and Kanye West will reportedly headline Coachella in 2019 — which makes me not want to go to Coachella.

-There’s a LOT of buzz for Amazon’s new show The Romanoffs, an anthology series from Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner that features Christina Hendricks, Isabelle Huppert, Noah Wyle, John Slattery, Amanda Peet, Diane Lane –– basically everyone. But the news that each episode is over 80 mins has definitely dampened my excitement.

-Paul Dano’s Wildlife is getting raves on the film fest circuit. I’m intrigued.

-Congrats to Cardi B who just welcomed her first child — a baby girl she named Kulture Kiari Cephus.

-Everyone else can stop with the #InMyFeelingsChallenge. Sterling K. Brown and Susan Kelechi Watson just won the whole thing with this video to celebrate their first day back on the set of This Is Us.

–Henry Cavill telling GQ that #MeToo has made it more difficult for him to date is a really, really bad look. “It’s very difficult to do that if there are certain rules in place. Because then it’s like, “Well, I don’t want to go up and talk to her, because I’m going to be called a rapist or something.'”

–Kristen Bell wears gloves in the pool to avoid prune-y fingers. Rich people are weird.

-Wow, THR’s cover story is a crazy read. It’s an investigation into a con artist who is impersonating top female execs in Hollywood like Kathleen Kennedy and Amy Pascal as part of a global scam.

–Kylie Jenner is on the cover of Forbes as the youngest self-made billionaire. But exactly how “self-made” is she?

–Sarah Palin feels duped by Sacha Baron Cohen, who she says “heavily disguised himself as a disabled U.S. Veteran” during an interview for his new show. This is the best PR leading up to the premiere the show could have possibly gotten…

–Donald Glover just dropped two new summer-themed songs as Childish Gambino.

-We’re now just a few days behind the US when it comes to Handmaid’s Tale airings (it dropped on Hulu last night; we get it on Bravo on Sunday). I’ve been trying to avoid reviews but the general sentiment from critics on Twitter has been hard to avoid.

-Also, the show cancelled that planned line of wine following all the social media backlash.

-What the hell is “dude-friendly wine“, Stephen Amell?!? Gawd, masculinity is so damn fragile.

-I’m choosing to believe that Justin Theroux wore a Wu-Tang Clan hat in tribute to The Leftovers and Nora’s impromptu tattoo.

–Dwayne Johnson is not running for office in 2020 — but he isn’t ruling out a future presidential run.

-His Skyscraper costar Neve Campbell (who looked ah-maz-ing at the premiere) talked to Stephen Colbert about why she stepped away from acting after Scream.

-Wait, so not only are we getting Jared Leto‘s Joker origin movie, we’re also getting Joaquin Phoenix’s? How many of these things do we really need?

-This sucks: Demi Moore is reportedly the victim of a major credit card fraud case. A man allegedly reported her card missing and then intercepted her new card before racking up $169k in bills.

–Green Day’s “American Idiot” has re-entered the British charts as people are trying to get it to the No. 1 song before Trump’s visit.

-Comic book fans love Y: The Last Man. Like, they LOVE it. At least the casting of FX’s upcoming adaptation is promising. Dunkirk’s Barry Keoghan has landed the role of Yorick, the last living man on Earth after a mysterious illness wipes out every other single male mammal in the world. Imogen Poots will play his sister, Hero, and Diane Lane will play their mother, Senator Jennifer Brown.

-I gave up on The Walking Dead ages ago, but I dig the fact that the new showrunner is a woman.

-Catfish’s Nev Schulman has been cleared of sexual misconduct allegations in an internal MTV investigation.

-Wait, Netflix’s The Kissing Booth started out as a Wattpad fic written by a 15-year-old? That movie makes so much more sense now…

-The fact that all the US TV critics I follow are suddenly gushing over Letterkenny delights me.

-This is an interesting look back at Across The Universe from star Evan Rachel Wood and director Julie Taymor, who talk about the films bungled marketing, and Taymor’s “difficult” reputation.

–Keira Knightley and Dominic West play authors struggling with infidelity in the Colette trailer.
