Britney Spears Is Stronger Than Yesterday

-Today, Britney Spears‘ conservatorship case was back in front of a judge at Los Angeles Superior Court. The judge ruled that the singer can finally select her own attorney instead of getting court-appointed counsel.

–Olivia Rodrigo visited the White House to urge young people to get vaccinated, saying she’s “beyond honored and humbled” to “help spread the message about the importance of youth vaccinations.”

–Lindsey Shaw, who I only know from the TV version of 10 Things I Hate About You, posted a video mocking one of the viral dances created by Black creators, and then posted another video crying about “the hate in my inbox” and pulled a “I am sorry you were offended.” Yikes.

–Gillian Anderson has arrived at the same place as many of us post-pandemic: she’s vowed to never wear a bra again.

-Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen talked about the show’s 12 Emmy nominations and what to expect from season 2. “Kate Sharma, played by Simone Ashley, she is a force to be reckoned with, and we pair up with her Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey, who’s just incredible. The two of them, they are magnetic. You cannot take your eyes off of them when they’re together on screen.” I’m looking forward to it; Kate was my fave character in the books.

-I’m not a fan of this Dolce & Gabbana on Sharon Stone, but I am a fan of the resurgence of red carpets!

-As much as I liked Loki, I would have been fine with it being a one and done, but it just got renewed for a second season.

-It’s hilarious how Marvel has made its casts so scared to talk about spoilers, even after they’ve been given the greenlight.

–John Mayer says his new record is intentionally terrible. “For me, it was like, I want to get in trouble. I want someone to tell me this is shit. And I made a record that to me at the time, only in a way to coax something out of me that I wouldn’t have normally done: shitpost a record. It’s called Sob Rock because it’s a shitpost.” That’s one way to get ahead of criticism, I guess.

–Justin Bieber dropped $1k in a weed store in 20 minutes, which actually doesn’t sound that hard to do.

–Kristen Stewart and Dylan Meyer have been spotted wearing rings, leading to marriage speculation.

–Hilary Duff posted a series of photos on Instagram documenting her daughter’s birth, and I had now idea her Younger costar Molly Bernard was her doula!

-The unofficial Celine Dion biopic Aline screened at Cannes today and it sounds insane. 57-year-old writer-director-star Valérie Lemercier plays all incarnations of Dion — including when she was a 5-year-old.

–Eddie Murphy’s son and Martin Lawrence’s daughter are dating.

-The Other Two is coming back August 26. God, I loved this sitcom.

-Netflix’s Never Have I Ever has returned, and the new season is getting great reviews.

-Red Rocket is getting raves at Cannes. It’s from The Florida Project director Sean Baker and follows Simon Rex, who plays a washed-up porn star who returns to his hometown in Texas to try to get his life together.

-There’s some weird corporate synergy to having Deadpool and Korg reacting to the trailer to Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy, but it’s really funny so  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. “Jodie Comer! God, I love her so much. I hope they don’t fridge her.” “What’s fridging?” “Well, it’s the practice of killing off or hurting a female character in order to motivate or torture the main character, also known as Deadpool 2.”

-Here’s the trailer for Blackpink the Movie, the upcoming documentary about the k-pop group which is set to screen in theaters worldwide in August.

–Justin Chon and Alicia Vikander star in the Blue Bayou trailer.

Avengers’ Paul Rudd and Chris Evans Re-Assemble

-The latest Actors on Actors interview is out, and it’s with Paul Rudd and Chris Evans. Needless to say, if you want to be charmed for 43 minutes this is for you. The best part was watching Evans fanboy over Rudd, asking “Why don’t you age? Are you drinking baby blood?”, recalling making him dance on video the first day they met, and saying “you’re like sorbet. You’re a palate cleanser – an always welcome addition.”

–Emma Roberts and Garrett Hedlund are not only still together, they’re having a baby!

–Jodie Turner-Smith calling Joshua Jackson a daddy (because “I made him one”) is social media perfection.

-Citing her own “pervasive privilege,” Kristen Bell has announced she is leaving her role as a biracial character on the Apple TV+ animated series Central Park. I would love to know the timing of this and if she made the decision before or after Jenny Slate. (Also, it was only back in January where the Central Park creator strongly defended the casting during the TCAs.)

–Naomi Campbell covers the new issue of Vogue Spain and says it’s the first time she’s been photographed by a black Photgrapher for vogue / condenast and it was a woman of color.

-I pity the poor PR person who has to clean up Chris D’Elia‘s latest mess. In a misguided effort to prove he’s not a creep, he released a bunch of emails — which make him sound like a creep.

–Demi Lovato seems content and in love, and I’m so happy for her.

-She also just signed a new deal with YouTube for a docuseries following the last three years of her ups and downs.

-Netflix will premiere a new show on July 10 called Down to Earth With Zac Efron in which the actor “searches for healthy, sustainable ways to live.” This is a different show than his upcoming Quibi one called Killing Zac Efron — which sounds like the total opposite.

-I get what this Variety article on the Television Critic Awards’ history of picking white winners was trying to do, but I’m not sure “submitting a more consciously inclusive ballot” is the only answer. (People much smarter than I am are talking about this much better than I ever could.)

–Lisa Rinna claims the Karens at QVC is trying to silence her political views.

–Celine Dion released a Pride-themed playlist and it is as cheesy and fun as you’d expect.

–The Dixie Chicks are changing their name: The trio is now called The Chicks.

–Cardi B was trending today because people thought she was trashing other female artists on a fake account. “These people must think I’m a 15-year-old girl … Stop trying to make this fake s**t up… don’t make lies about me. it’s tiring. It’s annoying.”

-Normal People stars Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones are reuniting for a pair of comedic shorts for Ireland’s Comic Relief. It’ll be set 40 years in the future — though I’m not sure older versions is really what people want to see from these characters.

-Meanwhile, following the success of Normal People, Hulu has ordered an adaptation of Sally Rooney‘s other novel, Conversations with Friends — a book I liked a lot more.

–Sharon Choi, best known as director Bong Joon-ho’s interpreter during last year’s award season, interviewed Sandra Oh about Killing Eve.

–Blackfeet Boxing: Not Invisible tells the story of the Blackfeet Boxing Club, which was set up to teach young women of the Blackfeet Nation boxing and self-defense.

-The trailer for Muppets Now on Disney+ features RuPaul, Taye Diggs, Aubrey Plaza and Seth Rogen.

–Tiffany Haddish, Salma Hayek and Rose Byrne cover InStyle to promote their new movie Like A Boss (the new trailer made me lol).

–Celine Dion is in Toronto tonight (I’m kicking myself for not getting tickets) but this photo is priceless — much like the ring she’s wearing.

–Cara Delevingne tweeted that she was no longer dating Ashley Benson, but then deleted the tweet. So are they still together? And if they’re not, who gets the sex swing??!

-Quibi remains a mystery to me, but good for the Amell cousins.

-It’s been a big few weeks for Supergirl stars speaking openly about difficult personal matters. Chyler Leigh shared that she’s bi-polar.

–Julia Louis-Dreyfus reflected on her SNL days during a sit-down with Stephen Colbert: “I didn’t understand how the dynamics of the place worked. It was very, very sexist. People were doing crazy drugs. I was oblivious; I just thought, ‘oh wow, he’s got a lot of energy.'”

-This site is doing a Pride & Prejudice rewatch and it’s such a daily happy-maker!

–Jack Black forgot that he was in The Holiday. I wish I could too.

-On last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Show, he had a wax statue made of himself and then he left it around the office, startling his staff members — especially his cousin. The end killed me.

–Seven more women have accused Cuba Gooding Jr. of groping and sexual misconduct, bringing the current tally to 22.

–Nick Cannon spent most of yesterday annoying Eminem on Twitter before he dropped another diss track. But why tho?

-Former star T.J. Miller weighed in on the Silicon Valley finale — first as himself and then in character. God, he’s not even on the show anymore and he’s still exhausting.

-This is Us’ Justin Hartley’s divorce continues to get messy.

-Aw man, the lead singer of Roxette passed away.

–January Jones plays a scary skating mom in the trailer for Netflix’s new figure skating drama Spinning Out. Wait, did they recreate Tessa Virtue’s Olympic dress?

–Daniel Radcliffe‘s time period comedy has a new trailer.The portrait bit made me chuckle.

-The Ghostbusters trailer has arrived. I dunno — do we really need a dark and somber GB?
