Demi Lovato Opens Up about Sexuality, Broken Engagement

demi lovato glamour

Demi Lovato covers Glamour to promote her upcoming Youtube documentary and talked about her past issues with food (“I was excited that I was in a comfortable place in my body to show more skin, but what I was doing to myself was so unhealthy”), her sexuality (“I know who I am and what I am, but I’m just waiting until a specific timeline to come out to the world as what I am”), her broken engagement (“Because I denied my intuition of all the red flags that had popped up, I had no one else to blame but myself”), and her new outlook on life (“I am now making choices—for the day, and then the future—about what it is I want and what’s going to make me the happiest”).

Michael B Jordan got zen for his Men’s Health cover story.

-In Selena Gomez‘s Vogue cover story, she says she’s not done with music — yet. “It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously. I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, ‘What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?’ “Lose You to Love Me” I felt was the best song I’ve ever released, and for some people it still wasn’t enough. I think there are a lot of people who enjoy my music, and for that I’m so thankful, for that I keep going, but I think the next time I do an album it’ll be different. I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music.”

-A Deux Moi blind was posted yesterday about how the first of the Armie Hammer articles would drop today, and it ended up being from Vanity Fair. It’s a good deep dive into his family’s messed up history (including an eye-popping tidbit about how his dad has a sex chair with the family crest on the seat), but when it gets to Armie himself, it goes pretty easy on him. There’s four different quotes from anonymous friends of his dismissing the allegations as simply a kink or evidence of his “dry sense of humour,” and casting suspicions on his estranged wife about the timing of the leaked DMs (despite the fact that she’s seemed remarkably restrained, considering). It also seems to downplay the allegations of assault/abuse his recent exes Paige Lorenze and Courtney Vucekovich have leveled elsewhere.

-It’s interesting to see how the royal family is responding to the Oprah interview. Prince Charles hasn’t officially said anything, though his camp tells Vanity Fair he’s “devastated” because “he feels let down by them both. There is not a racist bone in his body and to suggest otherwise is very hurtful.” Prince William was more direct about going on the defensive, telling the media “We’re very much not a racist family” and that he still hasn’t talked to Harry about it.

-In a new Harper’s Bazaar’s article Omid Scobie quotes from an email he claims that Meghan Markle sent about not making Kate Middleton cry over flower girl dresses. “Well, if we’re just throwing any statement out there now, then perhaps KP can finally set the record straight about me [not making her cry],” she reportedly wrote to an aide.

-Harry Potter’s Katie Leung says publicists instructed her to pretend she wasn’t the target of racist vitriol by fans while playing Cho Chang in the films. “I remember them saying to me… ‘just say it’s, say it’s not true, say it’s not happening.'”

-Oh god, Matthew McConaughey is rumbling about going into politics.

-I had no idea there was a spinoff of The Boys in the works, but I’m here for it.

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas will announce the Oscar nominees on Monday morning. Seems like an odd choice but ok.

Emmy Raver-Lampman and Daveed Diggs‘ house is featured in Architecture Digest and it’s so colourful and fun.

-Here’s the trailer for Anya Taylor-Joy and Finn Cole‘s new film, Here Are The Young Men.

Dolly Parton Gets a “Dose of Her Own Medicine”

Dolly Parton got a vaccine and all is right with the world.

Britney Spearsfather says he “would love nothing more than to see her not need a conservatorship.” Well, that seems like an easy fix on his end.

-Meanwhile, she showed off a new photo of her sons, who are full-grown teenagers now.

-Gutting: Jahmil French, who played Dave Turner for several seasons on Degrassi: The Next Generation, has died at age 29.

-I mentioned yesterday how weird it was for Taylor Swift to call out an out-of-context joke on Ginny and Georgia. Now, Swifties are harassing the show’s young actress, Antonia Gentry.

-When they weren’t busy harassing her, they also went after John Mayer.

-Ex-Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay has spoken out after disabling her Instagram page because Chris Harrison fans (those exist?) were somehow blaming her for his absence.

Armie Hammer reportedly moved out of his family home over the weekend “under the cover of night” — and the movers may have left a rope-bound mannequin in the trash.

Alec and Hilaria Baldwin debuted their new baby girl yesterday on Instagram, just five months after she gave birth to a baby boy. When a commenter asked if they used a surrogate, he responded “You should shut the f–k up and mind your own business.” Their PR rep added: “We’re still not issuing a statement or confirming anything — what she posted stands.” Everyone’s entitled to privacy when it comes to this stuff, but “the post stands” is my new favourite “no comment.”

-Riverdale’s Cole Sprouse may be dating model Ari Fournier.

George Clooney did a dramatic reading of BTS’ “Dynamite.”

Ray Fisher shared new details of “racially discriminatory conversations” on the Justice League set and specifically called out Geoff Johns: “There will likely be attempts to shift blame completely onto Kevin Tsujihara and Joss Whedon. But make no mistake. Geoff Johns worked intimately with Joss to overhaul the entire Justice League script. And while Geoff was not credited as a co-writer of the film, he was certainly an enforcer of the race-based discrimination that occurred during his conversations with Toby and Jon.”

T.I. will not return for Ant-Man 3 amid those sexual assault allegations.

-I can’t believe I’m typing these words, but the Dungeons & Dragons film sounds awesome. First Chris Pine signed on, then came Bridergton’s Regé-Jean Page, and now Hugh Grant has been cast as villain.

-This is a good rundown of all the drama that’s been happening with YouTubers.

-Superman & Lois has been renewed for a second season at The CW — after airing only one episode. The premiere performed well multiplatform.

Oprah‘s special with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has found a British home — it’ll air on ITV in the UK.

-I gasped at nearly every new word in this headline: “Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Merritt Wever, and Alison Brie to star in an Apple series about ‘what it means to be a woman’ from the creators of GLOW”.

-The Golden Globes ratings hit historic lows, losing 60% of viewers year over year. This, plus all the controversy about its voting members, makes me wonder if it will continue to be a major event going forward.

-The pandemic-related productions delays have finally caused a break in the era of peak TV.

-TikTok is being flooded with Tom Cruise deep fakes. These things are terrifying,

-The town of Húsavík got together to film a video about wanting an Oscar since the song from Eurovision is eligible for an Academy Award. The JA JA DING DONG guy even makes an appearance.

Tye Sheridan and Lily-Rose Depp star in the Voyagers trailer, which looks like Lord of the Flies in space.

Shailene Woodley Reportedly Engaged to Aaron Rodgers

-NFLer’s Aaron Rodgers, who is rumoured to be dating Shailene Woodley, thanked his “fiancée” in an acceptance speech.

-What is happening with Armie Hammer? On Friday both his publicist and his agency dropped him, leading to lots of speculation that this was a pre-emptive move because something more (and much worse) is going to come out about him. A bunch of blinds posted by DeuxMoi also seem to suggest a big story is coming from a major outlet soon…

-Whatever surfaces, I hope it makes Bill Maher eat his words.

-Meanwhile, a reporter says Hammer recently apartment-shamed her over a Zoom interview.

-Rapper Mod Sun is not only dating Avril Lavigne  – he just got her name tattooed on his neck.

-It’s over for Ashley Benson and G-Eazy. They started dating right as the pandemic hit, so it’s actually amazing they made it this far.

-On the flip side, a source tells People that Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles “seem very serious” and “spend all their time together.”

-Logistics nerds: this is a pretty good breakdown on how difficult it was to shoot the new season Top Chef during a pandemic.

The Weeknd made history as the first solo Canadian performer to headline the Super Bowl halftime show. It would have been better if we could actually hear him.

-The first Falcon and the Winter Soldier trailer dropped during the Super Bowl. It’s interesting that it’s coming smack in the middle of Marvel’s two more experimental new series (WandaVision and Loki), because this looks like a pretty conventional action show. (Unless they lean really heavily into the couples therapy bit and make it super character focused which I would LOVE but I’m not holding my breath.)

-This is a good interview with the WandaVision showrunner about how, despite all its twists and shiny gimmicks, they want to show Wanda as a whole person, not just an all-powerful plot device. He promises a “true emotional catharsis” is on the way.

-Just in time to fill the void left by To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before on Netflix, Amazon Prime has ordered a television adaptation of another Jenny Han novel series, The Summer I Turned Pretty. I really loved the first book in this series, thought the second was good, and disliked the third a lot.

Lucas Hedges says of his relationship with Michelle Pfeiffer on the set of French Exit: “By the end of filming, I was consistently annoying the hell out of Michelle. I never shut up. I would say I was like a squirrel around Michelle. A squirrel with a lollipop. That’s how I would describe the energy.” (She seems pleasantly puzzled by this description.)

Jennifer Coolidge says she once posed as twins so she could date a guy and his best friend at the same time. My hero!

-The Framing Britney Spears doc (which we don’t get yet in Canada) created a lot of buzz this weekend, with even Sarah Jessica Parker tweeting #FreeBritney.  Apparently Justin Timberlake does NOT come off well. Also, in the doc a paparazzo recalls the infamous moment in 2007 in which Spears took an umbrella to his SUV after he had harassed her during an emotionally fraught night.

-This is a surprisingly affecting interview with Soleil Moon Frye on the Punky Brewster revival.

This thread on how Ted Lasso created a potential pathway forward for masculinity is a must read.
