Succession Is Coming Back This Fall

-It’s Logan v. Kendall in the new Succession season 3 teaser. I cannot wait!

-I’m underwhelmed by Gwen Stefani’s Vera Want dress. Her original pink dress was just too high a bar to clear. At least she went non-traditional for the reception. The wedding ceremony was officiated by Carson Daly.

Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde are PDAing their way through Italy. Good for them.

-Every E. Alex Jung is a must-read. But this one on Jennifer Coolridge? Its a must-read-right-now. It’s filled with tidbits like this: “I always said I was Muffin Hemingway [at the clubs] if I couldn’t get in. One time I got thrown out of a club because I was behaving badly, and they said, ‘Don’t ever come back here, Muffin!'”

-Congrats to Being Human and Hawaii 5-0 star Meghan Rath, who just revealed her pregnancy.

-The first day of Cannes gave us Jodie Foster speaking French, Pedro Almodovar as a surprise guest, jury president Spike Lee in a hot pink suitMarion Cotillard in bike shorts, Adam Driver getting Oscar buzz, and Helen Mirren dancing on the red carpet.

Elizabeth Hurley’s son Damian says he’s “Grateful for my beautiful family, today and every day” — despite being cut of out his late father’s $330m will.

-I just finished Cruel Summer a few days ago, which was a fun, twisty little show. The second season will move ahead without creator Bert V. Royal. According to the Hollywood Reporter, he quit his Freeform series after clashing with an exec last summer just after the pilot finished shooting.

-This is a very well-written review of the Gossip Girl reboot, which says the show wants to start a revolution but has no idea how. I also like this one, which reminds us it’s harder than it looks to make really good trash.

Seth Rogen wins Twitter this week with this tweet: “Once I was in the spa in a hotel in Vegas getting a massage. When I finished I turned over and to my shock Paul Rudd was massaging me. He saw me go in and convinced the masseuse to let him take over, thinking I’d notice immediately. I didn’t, and Paul did the entire rest of it.”

-This seems to be implying that Jennifer Lawrence is pregnant? I kind of thought she already was, but that was me mixing her up with her BFF Emma Stone.

Larry Rudolph has stepped down as the Britney Spears‘ manager after 25 years. “It has been over 2 1/2 years since Britney and I last communicated, at which time she informed me she wanted to take an indefinite work hiatus. Earlier today, I became aware that Britney had been voicing her intention to officially retire.”

-Her long-time attorney (who was chosen for her), Sam Ingham, is also stepping down.

-I don’t watch Top Chef but by most accounts this season was one of its best, so it sucks that the winner is now surrounding by controversy.

Val Kilmer made a documentary about what it’s like to be Val Kilmer.

More Ted Lasso Is On Its Way

-Ted Lasso is coming back way earlier than I expected — July 23! Here’s the season 2 trailer.  Rewatching this show got me through the worst of the pandemic (so far).

Billie Eilish might be dating actor Matthew Tyler Vorce.

Demi Lovato apologized for going apeshit on a frozen yogurt shop. She had called them out for their sugar-free, dairy-free, and low-fat options, calling them a “diet culture vulture”. They responded that those were options for customers with health restrictions such as vegans, celiacs, and diabetics. It was such a bizarre story to begin with, but the optics of going after a small business right now didn’t help.

-TikTok Star Bryce Hall has been sued for assault and battery after an altercation at an LA restaurant was caught on camera.

Pete Davidson made it clear to Jake Paul that he’s not a fan.

-The cast of The Good Place (minus Kristen Bell) had a sleepover.

E. Alex Jung profiles are always a must-read, but his conversation with Mads Mikkelsen is an instant classic. Mikklesen talks about the Hannibal finale (“We actually did a couple of takes of the very last scene where we were looking at each other, and it was a little too obvious — it was almost a kiss. Me and Hugh [Dancy] were like, ‘Why not? We have a couple of takes. Let’s do one. It might be cool’…Bryan [Fuller] loved it, but he was like, ‘Too much, guys. It’s too obvious'”), what it was like to become recognizable in Denmark after playing a TV cop (“Since then, I’ve never bought a normal Coca-Cola. It’s always like, “Here’s your cola, Master Mads,” or “Get your fucking Coke, and get out of my shop.” There’s no neutral Coca-Cola anymore”), taking Rihanna‘s fake nails from the set of the “Bitch Better Have My Money” video (When we were done, I was like, “Are you done with them? Can I have some of them? I have a few friends who’re going to be so jealous when I show them this'”), and possibly the best career advice I’ve ever heard (“My approach to what I do in my job — and it might even be the approach to my life — is that everything I do is the most important thing I do…That means I will be ambitious with my job and not with my career. That’s a very big difference, because if I’m ambitious with my career, everything I do now is just stepping-stones leading to something — a goal I might never reach, and so everything will be disappointing. But if I make everything important, then eventually it will become a career”).

Julia Roberts dances it out in her new Chopard ad.

Taylor Swift‘s alleged stalker was arrested after he tried to break into her apartment. He apparently already has restraining orders from models Bella and Gigi Hadid.

-90210 reboot star AnnaLynne McCord shared her diagnosis of dissociative identity disorder. “All of my roles were splits, but I didn’t even realize I was doing it at all until I did 90210.”

-Game of Thrones’ Iron Anniversary seems to be an attempt to reverse the bitter taste the series finale left fans two years ago.

Kate Winslet‘s new HBO show Mare of Easttown debuted to strong ratings. I’m glad; I dug it.

Kim Kardashian freaked out when she found out she was an inspiration for Bridgerton’s wardrobe — and then quickly tried to finagle a set visit. I would too.

-I keep forgetting that the Oscars are this weekend! Steven Soderbergh, who’s one of the producers, says “You’ll feel like you’re watching a movie.”

-Here’s the trailer for Annette, a musical drama starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard, which is set to open Cannes on July 6. This trailer screams “not for me!!”

Report: Jennifer Lopez and ARod Split

JLo ARod split instagram

-There’s nothing like a classic Friday afternoon news dump! According to Page Six, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have called off their two-year engagement.  (People and E! News is also reporting it.) There’s been rumours of trouble ever since that mess with Southern Charm’s Madison.

-The weekend is here! Celebrate by gazing on these glorious photos of Lady Gaga feeding Adam Driver.

Jennifer Garner just experienced a big life milestone at 48 – she got her ears pierced.

-This Sunday’s Grammy Awards are going to look like a real award show — meaning no Zoom.

Elton John says he’ll “hit someone” if Phoebe Bridgers doesn’t win a Grammy on Sunday night. I’ll help.

-Ottawa Public Health has been crushing it on Twitter during covid, and now Ryan Reynolds is chiming in.

-The Mail’s doubling down on their story about “doctored” headlines in the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle interview.

-In his Men’s Health cover story, Michael B. Jordan talks about those rumours that his romance with Lori Harvey is a PR stunt. “I can’t do anything about that, and I’ve just got to accept that and keep moving in my purpose. People that know me know my heart. But people that know me for my work…they know what I allow them to know. The fact that I’ve been so closed off about a lot of parts of my life was a personal choice. As I’ve gotten older and a little more mature and comfortable in my own skin, I’ve become less concerned about it.”

Yara Shahidi was honoured in Glamour UK’s Women of the Year Awards. I watched The Sun Is Also A Star last weekend and spent the whole movie mesmerized by her face.

-Sad there’s no new WandaVision dropping today? A new Disney+ documentary takes viewers inside the making of the show.

-I really like this point about criticisms of Wanda not facing consequences for what she did to Westview. How many fans are calling for Clint to be held accountable for his crimes? Or Tony? Or Bucky?

-Full reviews for Falcon and the Winter Solider are still under embargo, but critics have taken to Twitter to share their initial reactions to the first episode — and it’s all very positive. It sound like it’s going to be much more of a shoot ’em up adventure show than WandaVision was, but there are still some quiet character moments.

Sharon Osbourne is now apologizing for supporting Piers Morgan. “To anyone of colour that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused or let down by what I said, I am truly sorry.” Her initial meltdown in this clip was textbook white privilege: demanding a Black woman explain racism to her, centering the issue on herself, and weaponizing her tears.

-Ohhhh, people are so mad at Grey’s Anatomy after last night’s episode!

Rebekah Weatherspoon‘s Cowboys of California trilogy is being optioned for TV. Two years ago when I made a concerted effort to stop reading books with only white protags, it lead me to romance (’cause that’s really the only genre that is crushing it, diversity-wise) and this series was the first one I read all the way through.

Hilary Duff is pregnant and she wants the world to know about a symptom that’s called “lightning crotch.”

Peyton List and Lili Taylor star in the Paper Spiders trailer which got raves on the festival circuit.
