Brad Pitt’s World War Z Cost $200 Million, Reshot Entire Ending

brad-pitt-world-war-z-vanity-fair

Brad Pitt (well, mostly his teeth) covers Vanity Fair this month, and the article focuses on the “nightmare” production of World War Z. Is there any way this movie won’t tank?

-A movie that has zero chance of tanking is Iron Man 3 (it’s already made $195 million overseas). I saw it last night and it was great. (If I have time I’ll try to post a review later in the week). And you know what I liked most about it? Gwyneth Paltrow. I KNOW! Trust me, you’re going to feel the same way. You might want to prepare yourself with Vulture’s Practical Guide to Not Hating Gwyneth in Iron Man 3, though.

-Meanwhile, Gwyneth recommends ending fights with blowjobs. Yup, that should do it.

-I love that Vulture introduced Mark Ruffalo to the homo-erotic “Science Bros” Internet fan art of him with Robert Downey Jr — and I love his reaction.

Rumer Willis and Demi Moore appear to have ended their feud — with yoga.

Rebel Wilson broke out some improv dance moves on Fallon last night. I feel like “I’m holding too much eye contact while thrusting” will soon be sweeping the clubs.

-Whelp! Lindsay Lohan may start a blog about her 90-day stint in rehab.

-It’s a long one, but you should try to carve a few minutes out of your day to read the transcript of Steven Soderbergh‘s impassioned ‘state of cinema’ speech, which he gave at the San Francisco Film Festival. “Now I’m going to attempt to show how a certain kind of rodent might be smarter than a studio when it comes to picking projects.”

-This is kind of awesome: Geri Halliwell and Mel B were hanging out at an pub when Mel dared Geri to serenade a group of strangers with a Spice Girls song.

-In other ‘former coworkers hanging out’ news, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow ran into each other at an art show.

Kim Kardashian is asking for donations to a children’s hospital in lieu of baby gifts, which is nice and selfless and my world no longer makes sense.

-I haven’t watched Rectify, but I do appreciate their use of Cracker‘s “Low” in this scene.

-Are Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult back together? The exes were photographed grabbing dinner last night.

-At last week’s Calgary Comic Expo, Will Wheaton gave an impromptu, awesome speech about the joys of being a nerd.

-Speaking of nerds who rule the world, Chris Hardwick just landed another(!) TV show.

Amanda Bynes has reportedly demanded full access to all of the money that had previously been invested on her behalf. This can’t end well.

-Oh, and now Amanda Bynes is hate-Tweeting at Drake.

-Speaking of Drake, Rihanna followed him on Instagram, which quickly led to Chris Brown unfollowing her. Dramaz!

-Meanwhile, is Chris begging Rihanna to take him back on his new song?

Tom Hanks leads Tony nominations, but Scarlett Johansson got snubbed.

Catherine Zeta-Jones has returned to a facility to treat her bipolar II disorder. According to sources, it was planned.

-Is someone pregnant on Parks and Recreation? My guess in April.

Anne Hathaway was so desperate to escape the paparazzi at LAX, she hung out in a stranger’s car until hers arrived.

-Is Kiera Knightley getting married in France this weekend?

Hilary Duff is guest-starring on Two and a Half Men. That explains her expression.

-This is cool. H&M just put a plus sized model on their homepage like it was ain’t no thang.

-The creator of Breaking Bad says the finale will be “victorious.” We’re guessing not for Walt, though.

Carey Mulligan looks lovely on the cover the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK.

-Man, I can’t even remember the last time I saw a photo of Johnny Depp without all the scarves and jewelry. I missed his face!

-The cast of Arrested Development converged on the red carpet last night, and the most hilarious coverage of it came from the show’s official Twitter feed.

-The finale Fast & Furious 6 trailer has landed. So…yeah.

Justin Bieber Posts Cozy Photo of Selena Gomez

Justin Bieber just can’t stop Instagramming snuggly photos of Selena Gomez with his shirtless self. No matter how much we may want him to.

-Yet another reason to get excited about the new season of Arrested Development: John Krasinski will make a cameo.

-An interview Reese Witherspoon did before her arrest just hit newsstands. She’s probably wishing she hadn’t talked about trying not to be an “arrogant jerk” right about now…

-In other silly interviews, Miley Cyrus talks to Elle about how it “seems right” to keep wearing her engagement ring and says she and Liam Hemsworth were “too nice to the world” by divulging private information about their lives on Twitter. Yes, it’s clearly our fault. Damn us for clamouring for all those photos of her puppy!

-Some songs from The Great Gatsby soundtrack were released today. Everyone’s talking about Beyonce and Andre 3000‘s “Back to Black” cover, but I’m preferring Sia’s new tune.

-Guys! Win Butler and Regine Chassagne of Arcade Fire had a baby!

-Judging by these new photos, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard‘s on-again/off-again relationship is very much on-again.

Jake Gyllenhaal is getting lots of women in NYC all hot and bothered.

-Security reportedly got a little too violent when a fan approached Ashton Kutcher at Stagecoach (which is Coachella’s country cousin).

-Speaking of Kutcher, his Two and a Half Men costar Angus T. Jones will not be a full-time cast member when the show returns.

Chris Martin is into cupping with his wife. (Still not as dirty as it sounds.)

-Meanwhile, Chris and Gwyneth joined Jay-Z and Beyonce for a soccer-watching double date.

Zach Braff managed to reach his $2 million Kickstarter goal in just three days. If the studios hadn’t taken notice with the Veronica Mars campaign, you can bet they have now.

-I usually hate it when Hollywood tries to make a star “happen,” but I’ll make an exception for Taylor Kitsch, who seems to have an endless supply of second chances. Sadly, I don’t think starring in Ryan Murphy‘s upcoming HBO flick is going to do it for him.

-This will make lots of people I know happy: Neutral Milk Hotel is reuniting for their first concerts in 15 years.

-The surviving members of the Beastie Boys are planning to write a memoir.

-This new Star Trek: Into Darkness clip is very Benedict Cumberbatch-y.

-In other movie news, Colin Firth is in talks to play a Bond-ish character in an adaptation of the comic book The Secret Service.

-Wait, when did Nina Dobrev and Julianne Hough become BFFs?

-I have very, very low tolerance for tortured artist, woe-is-me-ish interviews but I kind of agree with everything Penn Badgley says about Gossip Girl in this one.

-In other GG news, it looks like Leighton Meester is still going strong with Adam Brody.

Paris Jackson is reconnecting with her mother Debbie Rowe, according to People.

Steven Soderbergh is writing a novella on Twitter, for some reason.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart‘s romantic tour of gas stations and convenience stores continues.

-Is Harry Styles dating Kimberly Stewart? Do we care?

-Here’s a photo of The Walking Dead’s Normus Reed photobombing the Game of Thrones cast, just ’cause.

-In case you missed it, last night’s The Good Wife season finale killed it.

Guillermo Del Toro just posted the Pacific Rim footage he showed at WonderCon on YouTube, and it looks amazing! My love of Idris Elba may be blinding me…but I don’t think that’s it. Am I wrong?

Amanda Bynes Gets Buzzed

Amanda Bynes shaved her head. We all know what that means, right?

-Is it weird that I found Gwyneth Paltrow kind of charming when she told her awkward pubic hair story on Ellen? I mean, it made zero sense, but it was funny. She was also cute with the strippers. Better than when she impersonated Jay-Z and Beyonce.

Chris Pine has split from Sports Illustrated model Dominique Piek.

Cory Monteith looks great post-rehab, heading to a vacation with girlfriend Lea Michele.

-One of the reasons Carey Mulligan landed the role of Daisy in The Great Gatsby (besides the fact that she’s made of awesome) is because she unexpectedly smooched Leonardo DiCaprio during her audition.

-If the onsie suddenly becomes a fashion trend, I’m blaming Justin Bieber.

House of Cards star Corey Stoll has been cast as the lead in FX’s Guillermo del Toro/Carlton Cuse vampire TV show.

Eva Longoria talks about how she was so depressed after her divorce that she couldn’t eat in a new interview.

The Killing’s first trailer with Peter Sarsgaard has landed. I can’t imagine anyone is actually looking forward to this show’s return, but it’s happening.

These photos of Prince William, Catherine and Prince Harry picking wands in Diagon Alley are all kinds of great.

Matt Lauer has at least one ally at NBC. Kathie Lee Gifford is collecting support signatures on his behalf.

Tim Heidecker’s reaction to Zach Braff‘s Kickstarter campaign was the funniest — and now someone’s took the time to film it.

Seth Rogen joined the Backstreet Boys onstage last night to sing “Everybody” and it was great.

Emma Stone managed to make one of those boring interviews about her beauty routine pretty damn charming.

Kristen Wiig and Ben Affleck will host the last eps of SNL this season.

Lindsay Lohan still hasn’t picked her rehab spot, even though she has less than a week to check in. How is this her decision?!

-There’s only four episodes left of The Office and I have to say that I’m actually enjoying the show again because of how they’re handling the Jim and Pam stuff. After some initially shaky plotting with the camera man, they’re on fire now. That scene at the end of last night’s ep? Sigh. In any case, they are airing a one-hour retrospective before the finale on May 16.

-In other NBC news, the network just renewed a bunch of dramas, including Parenthood. And for a full 22-episode season!

-In other TV news, the CW just renewed Hart of Dixie and Beauty and the Beast, which basically means that Nikita and The Carrie Diaries are in a fight to the death. Here’s a look at which other shows are on the bubble.

-The ratings for last night’s proposed Vampire Diaries spinoff were disappointing (though it still got picked up). I haven’t watched it yet because frankly, even thinking about it makes me exhausted, but I’m impressed by the soundtrack. Any show that features TV on the Radio and The National in the first episode can’t be all bad.

New promos for the upcoming season of True Blood have arrived.

-In case anyone was worried, the Canadian Parliament is prepared for the zombie apocalypse.

-Speaking of zombies, The Walking Dead just cast the guy who played D’Angelo on The Wire.

-The first trailer for Tiger Eyes has landed. I’m really glad Willa Holland is having a moment. I saw her in a tiny indie movie starring Colin Firth called Summer in Genoa and have been impressed by her ever since.

-The first trailer for Prince Avalanche, starring Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch, has landed. It got great buzz at Sundance.
